Finance Generalist - School of Continuing and Professional Studies
Finance Generalists are hybrid positions, responsible for a variety of professional level work across various financial disciplines. They possess a solid financial background, either gained through work experience or education, which allows them to assume a wide range of duties across multiple areas, including accounting, budget, payroll, financial aid, financial analysis, purchasing, or treasury. Finance Generalists work on behalf of a program, function, or department, independently executing a range of financial responsibilities, based on the organization's needs.

Assist with account preparation and certification as needed.Oversee and/or assist with the preparation of purchase orders and payment vouchers, ensuring that bills are paid promptly and in compliance with University requirements and resolve any discrepancies with vendors as needed.Maintain financial records, following University and departmental policies and procedures, and maintain all documentation and records to meet audit requirements.Monitor chart of account use (FDM) to ensure that departments are maintaining consistency and budget alignment in their use of the FDM.Providing back-up to Financial & Business Operations team members as needed.Will also work with grants and will need to adhere to policies and procedures required. Proactive mindset, with capacity to multi-task and work towards several objectives simultaneously on tight deadlines.Ability to solve moderately complex accounting and reconciliation issues. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: At least two years of experience. Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.
 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Experience working with Workday. Exceptional background in financial management. Strong understanding of higher education budget and accounting

ABOUT THE POSITION

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA and offers a hybrid work schedule. The incumbent will be required to work on site as needed and requested for meetings and/or other programmatic needs. This is a full-time, exempt level, benefited position with UVa benefits. Employees benefits package highlights include:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
