Finance Manager, Customer Operations, Project Kuiper
Description Amazon's Project Kuiper is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our Customer Operations Finance team. This exciting role will support our mission to provide fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide through our constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. As a key member of our Business Operations (Biz-Ops) Finance team, you'll develop and maintain comprehensive financial models, partner with business teams to provide strategic insights, and help optimize our global customer operations. You'll work across functions including field services, customer support, payment processing, and bad debt management to drive financial planning and analysis that balances operational efficiency with exceptional customer experience. This role offers the unique opportunity to help build financial frameworks and processes from the ground up for a business that will transform internet connectivity worldwide. Key job responsibilities - Lead strategic financial planning and analysis for key customer operations functions, including development of financial models, budgeting processes, and performance metrics that drive business decisions - Partner with business teams to evaluate operational efficiency and cost optimization opportunities while maintaining focus on customer experience and service quality - Develop and maintain scorecards and metrics to track financial and operational performance, providing actionable insights to leadership and identifying areas for improvement - Provide financial oversight and analysis for partnerships and vendor relationships, including contract evaluations and cost analysis A day in the life In this role, you'll collaborate with various stakeholders to analyze and optimize our customer operations costs. You might start your day reviewing the latest field services installation metrics, then transition to a meeting with the customer support team to discuss cost per call trends. Later, you could be working on a financial model to evaluate a new payment processing vendor or presenting your findings on bad debt management strategies to senior leadership. Your analysis and insights will drive critical decisions that balance operational efficiency with our commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience. About the team You'll be joining the Business Operations Finance team for Amazon's Project Kuiper, supporting the Customer Operations function. This team plays a critical role in ensuring the financial success of our global broadband service, working closely with field services, customer support, and other operational teams. As we build this business from the ground up, you'll have the opportunity to shape financial strategies that will directly impact our ability to deliver affordable, high-quality internet service to customers around the world. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science) - 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience - 5+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience - Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications - Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results - 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience - Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards) - Knowledge of SQL/ETL - Experience in telecommunications, internet service providers, or satellite industry finance - Familiarity with global operations and multi-country financial management - Knowledge of field services and customer support operations and related KPIs - Understanding of subscription-based business models and related financial metrics Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
