Finance Manager - Merchandising Finance

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Finance Manager to support the Merchandising function. By identifying the right products that resonate with customers and cultivating strong vendor relationships, the Merchant organization is central to Lowe’s delivering over $80B of profitable sales.

The primary purpose of this role is to partner directly with Merchandising leadership to drive proactive, insightful financial analysis which will inform fact-based, data-driven decision making. This role has a seat at the table with complex and highly visible areas of a fast-paced business and will work in support of initiatives aligned with the Company's strategic focus areas. Cross functional collaboration is key along with the ability to leverage a matrixed organization toward timely completion of projects and analyses.

The successful candidate will have a strong bias toward action and will work closely with finance and partner teams to convert complex business plans into actionable monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range plans. Additionally, this role will be tasked with developing and maintaining performance reporting, building business cases for strategic merchandising initiatives, and fostering strong connections with partner teams. The Finance Manager is responsible for acting as a subject matter expert and thought leader on their respective team, as well as taking on the responsibility of mentoring and developing junior team members. Strong knowledge of financial and business analytics principles is a must for this role, as well as the ability to influence and effectively communicate with senior leaders of Lowe’s.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a key business partner to our Merchandising organization, working directly with leadership and stakeholder teams to influence positive financial performanceCollaborate across the business to provide root cause analysis and actionable insights based on financial and non-financial data to functional partners and business unitsBuild complex financial models and analytical tools, and effectively communicate findings to positively influence leadership decision makingFacilitate financial forecasting and planning processes with functional partners and business units that result in monthly forecast updates, annual plans, and long-range plans (2-3 years)Develop business cases for key initiatives by creating robust financial models and functional strategic relationships with partner teams to identify key measurement criteria and potential risks and risk-mitigation measures for the organization to be successful in gauging project returns and performance.Play a role in development of Senior Analyst/Analyst talent across the team by driving knowledge sharing and coaching/mentoring on strengths and opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field5+ years of experience in finance or analytical role in a public company or related Industry/Business3+ years of experience with financial forecasting or analytical modeling, with an emphasis on Sales/Margin forecasting in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentExceptional analytical capabilities and highly detail orientedExperience in structuring and writing formal documents, developing and delivering group presentations, project planning, and/or cross-functional collaborationAdept with Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools (MicroStrategy, TM1, Hyperion/Essbase, Business Objects, Cognos, Teradata, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldPrevious experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Corporate AccountingExperience managing implementation of mid-size projects, programs or processesExperience working in a big box/large retailerExperience working at a Fortune 500 companyCPA, CFA, CMA certification
