Job Description Summary:

The Finance Manager will support various internal company investments, such enterprise capital projects, new facilities, internal research & development (IR&D), and support elements of the new business tool implementation project.
The incumbent will work with our Strategy Office to drive identification and prioritization of potential investments. This will include preparation of business cases and ROI analysis to support prioritization decisions. For approved investments, this role will oversee the establishment of budget baselines, tracking, reporting and communication of progress to internal leaders and project managers as appropriate.
Additionally, this role will be a workstream lead as part of the new business tool team, providing guidance on project accounting and capturing requirements across stakeholders to ensure the new tool is configured to meet all the needs.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

Support the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes for investments by soliciting planning inputs and serving as the point of contact for investment budget owners.

Lead a team in the reporting and communication of budget performance and provide thought analytical support in the form of financial performance using established key performance indicators (KPIs) for enterprise Capital, IR&D and new business tool implementation efforts. This will include supporting program management reviews and quarterly business reviews as necessary.

Lead the development of financial businesses cases for proposed investments.

Communication in this role is key, and the candidate will need to be able to effectively communicate/business partner with the Strategy Office, Science & Technology leaders, and Operations, from remote locations to provide financial guidance and support.

As a workstream lead, will need to effectively participate and collaborate as part of the larger ERP implementation team and bring or find the required subject matter expertise to lead and complete the assigned workstream on time, this may include:

Able to bridge concepts into executable plans, structures from the early concept.

Supports the development of all required deliverables (as needed)

Able to work collaboratively across the business and functions to deliver what is required of the workstream.

Able to achieve alignment and promote timely decision making where applicable as it relates to their workstream.

Support the development of communication/messaging of financial information for program and business reviews as necessary for investment activity.

Supports ad hoc tasks, special projects, and internal and external audits as required.

Skills/Abilities

Prior experience with project reporting and analysis, of variances on labor, material, other direct costs compared to assigned budgets by fiscal period (staffing/headcount, cost & schedule performance)

Proficient with Microsoft software, including strong MS Excel skills

Comfortable communicating with all levels of leadership, up to and including executive level communication.

Ability to present complex information to all levels of management

Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability

Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities successfully

An understanding of related accounting principles, useful life, depreciation schedules

Knowledge of Deltek Cobra

Demonstrated ability to initiate improvements in reporting systems and business processes

Ability to embrace and drive organizational change

Ability to balance priorities in a dynamic, matrixed environment

Self-starter, capable of working independently and in a team environment  

Ability to train and supervise staff with diverse experience

Knowledge of Earned Value Management principles


Education

A minimum of a bachelors degree in a related field is required.


Experience

8 or more total years of related experience; or 5 years of experience leading teams with direct supervisory responsibilities.  6 or more years with a Master’s or Advanced Degree
