The Opportunity

As a Finance Manager, you will work with the Director of Financial Close and Consolidation and be a key person owning the oversight of the Financial Close and External Reporting’s initiatives portfolio and own the implementation of key automation and continuous improvement initiatives.  This position will work very closely with the Financial Close and External Reporting leaders in managing various projects and in the implementation of various reports, processes and workflow improvement projects.  This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a highly dynamic and agile environment to collaborate across teams seeking solid execution and improving outcomes.

The Team

This position will play a key role in the build out and continuous improvement of the Financial Close & External Reporting’s various financial processes, reports and analysis.The role requires someone with technical skills and business acumen to support initiative portfolio and implementations to transform existing financial reports and analysis, processes and workflows while leveraging existing tools such as Microstrategy, Microsoft PowerBI and Alteryx.

The Impact

Delivery and ImplementationLead build of solutions within MassMutual Finance approved tools to efficiently load required data, perform modeling/reporting while working with IT and data owners to develop end-to-end integration between the Data Lake and related toolsDevelop standards and best practices to guide teams in building visualizations and report development that present a single, aligned version of truth, clearly convey business results, and prompt actionable insights.Collaborate directly with business partners to translate their data needs into technical requirements, design, and implementation through compelling data visualizations.Design, develop, and maintain key business intelligence solutions, including dashboards and interactive reporting tools, using Power BI or other BI tools.Lead initiatives to integrate various data sources and feeds into various databases.Manage data processes, including upstream/downstream data management and linkages.Support critical transformation initiatives by performing user acceptance testing of enhancements, helping to document business requirements, and partnering with other teams to execute based on best practicesContinuous improvement of existing processes and ongoing updates to documentation as existing recurring processes change or new operational processes emerge.Demonstrate a strong technical understanding of the underlying accounting and data structure and sufficient business knowledge to be able to verify and analyze information under reviewUse appropriate judgment in dealing with unexpected issues and requests, demonstrating an ability to prioritize work, and balance resource requirements to achieve solutions. When in question escalate and make sure something is required before time is spent on it.Initiatives management and oversight: work closely with the Financial Close & External Reporting leaders in the creation, and tracking and maintenance of the Team’s projects and initiativesOwn the initiatives inventory and ensure alignment and effective executionWork with the Financial Close and External Reporting leaders to closely monitor resource allocation and investment prioritization based on strategic importance and potential return on investmentPerform administration activities to support tools including managing business rules and performing data loadsProvide ongoing production support for tool including troubleshooting, ad hoc analysis, user onboarding and security reviews

The Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field6+ years of relevant experience in public accounting or in a large sophisticated corporate environment.

The Ideal Qualifications

CPA or CFAExperience working in a Finance transformational setting; driving continuous improvements and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibilityStrong multi-tasking skills, ability to adapt to change and manage competing priorities.Ability to handle complex long-term focused projects and take ownership to drive them through completion.Ability to lead the collaboration efforts between Close and Consolidation team and other internal or external stakeholders to achieve results and improve satisfaction.Solid analytical and technical capability - ability to assimilate/summarize a large amount of information from multiple sources and present in a value-added form for senior management.Experience working in a Lean Six Sigma environment with strong root cause problem solving experience.Intellectual curiosity to continue learning and adding breadth and depth to understanding.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and Alteryx is desired but not requiredWillingness to continuously learn new technologies and discover new ways to perform business processes more effectively and efficiently.Experience in best-in-class control execution/documentationExperience in using accounting data and information to analyze and articulate financial results.Ability to perform independent accounting research and serve as a key resource for resolution of unique or complex business problems.Solid problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, using sound and independent judgment.Results-oriented, can work under tight timelines and manage competing priorities.Excellent customer focus and commitment to quality

Salary Range: $113,100.00-$148,400.00
