Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Finance Project Manager.
This role will lead a team of Financial Analysts who manage the finances of a sponsored projects portfolio for assigned Divisions Departments and/or Programs Responsibilities include direct management and supervision of Sr FAs and FAs; management of a sponsored projects portfolio including budgetary and financial oversight for the PI s portfolio; communicate organized accurate and timely financial data to principal investigators departmental and POD leadership sponsors and others They will implement and enforce policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor rules regulations and generally accepted accounting procedures Provide formal/informal training to departmental employees investigators and staff on internal and external systems operations and processes Maintain a strong customer service oriented environment The effectiveness of this position is tied directly to the incumbent s knowledge of and ease with the varying requirements of each sponsor in award management particularly professional expertise in the management of federal awards
Job Responsibilities:
Operations Management and Administrative LeadershipOversee the duties of a team of Financial Analysts FA including coaching training performance evaluation and change managementProvide leadership in the recruitment training assessment and retention of FAsWork closely with the Director and Associate Director of Research Administration and Departmental leadership to develop organize maintain and manage needs for supporting the growing Research portfolioProvide oversight of the financial management of all sponsored grants and contracts under their team in compliance with NYUGSOMs policies project deliverables and sponsors regulationsOversee the creation and utilization of reports to monitor all aspects of faculty portfoliosWork closely with the Research Finance Operations office to develop and maintain tools processes templates and standard operating procedures SOPs designed to support the operations for effective portfolio managementAnalyze financial data using workload and deliverable metrics to develop and implement strategies for performance improvementCollaborate with the Pre Award team on active awards and the transfer of grant applications for new investigatorsContribute to ongoing process improvement including the development of policies and procedures educational and training programsIn collaboration with pre award provide faculty and leadership with portfolio summaries new awards budget reconciliation allocations holding accounts PO effort certification completion closeouts etc for each division under the teamIn alignment with RFO implement policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with sponsor rules and regulationsReview communicate and implement updates of the Uniform Guidance policies and other standard operating proceduresProvide guidance and training on the use of job aids templates and other tools to enhance efficiency in performing daily tasks and to inform future financial planning and decision makingParticipate in institutional initiatives related to process improvementPartner with investigators to ensure that FAs are maintaining an optimal level service in managing their portfolioEngage with investigators division administrators and center administrative directors to solicit feedback for optimal FA supportEngage with other research stakeholders such as Pre Award RFO CRSU and other institutional entities to support cross collaboration across the award lifecycleCoordinate and facilitate training for new FAs in preparation for a smooth portfolio transitionFunction as an expert for all aspects of grants portfolio management addressing queries/issuesCommunication and Customer Service ManagementDevelop professional relationships and partnerships with investigators division administrators HR finance and other departmentsRespond to all communications in a timely fashion i e within 2 business days understand and address their needsEncourage teamwork and take a lead role in maintaining and improving overall collaborationProvide guidance to departmental administrators investigators and research support staff on the financial and proposal systems operations and processesCommunicate complex financial information and other issues with the Associate Director of Research AdministrationParticipate in special projects and other improvement and change management initiativesAdditional Position Specific Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor s degree required as well as a minimum of 3 years of experience managing complex sponsored research portfolios on the post award Successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of policies and procedures to ensure that research practices are in accordance with institutional and sponsor guidelines Demonstrated knowledge of the successful post award financial management of sponsored projects Candidate must have a proven ability to work in a fast paced environment meet deadlines for portfolio and ADQ reviews and manage several projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree preferred Ideal candidate would have extensive understanding of related federal and state rules regulations policies and procedures as well as the ability to interpret those of other sponsoring agencies In addition preference is given to candidates with outstanding verbal and written communication skills and an extensive knowledge of business administration including both budgetary and sponsored program management at an academic medical center

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $121,539.60 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
