Finance Specialist Revenue Recognition - North America

Expectations and tasks:

The Revenue Recognition Specialist is responsible providing Revenue Recognition Deal Support in North America.  This position requires a dynamic individual with the ability to partner with the sales organization and ensure the on premise, professional services and cloud license agreements are accounted for properly in accordance with IFRS.  The Revenue Recognition Senior Specialist reports to the respective RevRec Manager in their assigned Market Unit and is a member of the Global Commercial Finance Team in North America.


Responsabilities:

Perform controls and procedures to review on premise and cloud license agreements to ensure they are accounted for properly.  Understand changes in business and regulatory environments to ensure compliance. Promote the idea of One Deal Support and ensure business partnering with the leader of their assigned Market Unit Sales team.  Find opportunities to simplify deal support by reducing the amount of complexity for the salesforce. Professionally interact with auditors during their quarterly reviews and the annual audit procedures. Work with Sales, Pricing, Field and Services Controlling, Legal and Contracts to ensure license agreements are structured in accordance with SAP's Revenue Recognition and IFRS15 policies Perform controls and procedures related to the monthly close of software revenue accounts and ensure the market unit controllers are aware of all posted adjustments.  Follow best practices in the area of monthly close. Perform controls and procedures related to testing SSP for all non on-premise software revenue streams including cloud services, consulting, HEC, training and maintenance.  Follow best practices in the area of SSP compliance. Keep current on the latest Revenue Recognition training content & programs. Develop a strong relationship with the assigned regional Market Unit and provide training and guidance on new policies. Will be supporting the West market unit and therefore would need to work in the PST time zone.

 Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred 2-3 years of relevant work experience Willingness to develop thorough knowledge of IFRS15 / U.S. GAAP on revenue recognition and SAP’s policies and practices CPA and/or Big 4 public accounting experience, highly preferred Inquisitiveness and critical thinking skills Problem solver with confidently affirmative attitude Excellent communication skills Ability to work under time pressure and deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks and projects Team player and self-starter
