We are a Global Shared Service Center for Finance consisting of approximately 600 highly motivated and experienced professionals committed to excellence in customer service across Manila and Cebu. The Finance Shared Services Center supports Finance globally in the Period Closing activities ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger, Accounting and Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Analysis and Strategy, and Finance Modernization by partnering with Group Finance Technology in supporting the transformation of our data and architecture toward enabling users to leverage low-code solutions with the COEs.
With limited guidance, the role is responsible for conducting complex financial, accounting, and economic analyses, including journal entry preparation and review, detailed calculations, and internal and external reporting. Reporting directly to the MBPS Finance Controller Domain Lead for the Insurance line of business, the role is accountable for the efficient, quality, and timely service delivery of their teams which include, but not limited to, the:
Responsible for performing accounting activities such as preparing and reviewing standard and non-standard journal entries, reconciling complex general ledger accounts, and preparing state filings, footnotes, and financial statement pages.Responsible for analyzing financial results, including reviewing analysis prepared by othersManaging business queries, conducts financial analysis to support decision making through explanatories and recommendations, and advises Business Units on technical accounting questions by providing guidance in resolve accounting challenges.Managing the efficient preparation and submission audit requirements in compliance with applicable accounting standards while ensuring regulatory adherence.Supporting the update of accounting policies in line with IFRS, management policy and applicable accounting standards.Analyzing financial results, reviewing analysis prepared by others, and synthesizing analysis to tell a narrative story to senior financial managers such as CFOs and Head Controllers.Establish credibility and build professional partnerships with our Business Unit service recipients and key stakeholders in aligning our service offering to the business strategy and requirements. Enable timely feedback channels to align expectations and priorities.In partnership with our customers, define and periodically refresh service level standards across the teams, consistently deliver on the KPIs as defined within the Service Level Agreements and Schedule of Services, and deliver business value through innovation.Manage and mitigate risk and issues through transparent and timely escalation/resolution, monitoring corrective actions taken for sustained effectiveness. Validate the accuracy of risk assessments. Accountable for timely and effective closure of audit points.Timely and accurate submissions on balanced scorecards, performance dashboards (KPIs and KRIs), other required business metrics, and governance reporting.Drive a high performing culture by adopting and promoting the Manulife Values and Leadership DNA.Reviews work performed by the team to provide coaching feedbackShows an advanced degree of proficiency with reporting and analysis tools.Proposes and implements data management efficienciesCollaborates with other Finance teams through the sharing of best practices, continuous improvement, and adoption of service excellence practices.Prioritizing and reprioritizing work deliverables and projects for internal clients based on changing business needs (deadlines, costs, scope of projects)Decisions at this position are made using judgment based on skills and knowledge already developedDecisions beyond normal day to day may require escalation to management
