Job Description

The opportunity

The Finance Technical Lead position is accountable for leading the ARC Management Reporting Team focusing on the management reporting, financial planning and analysis processes, evaluating organizational needs, and determining the development of technical solutions within the team, with primary focus on the Insurance business of Manulife.

Working with Regional Office and Asia Business Unit level, the role is expected to supplement to achieve the business objective of improved organizational efficiency by applying their expert knowledge to resolve challenges.

Management Reporting

Perform first level of review of management and regulatory reports to facilitate better business decisions by management team.  This requires working with regional functional teams and local teams to ensure accuracy of the key performance indicators for each Asia Business UnitResponsible in the preparation, analysis, and providing commentaries on the monthly, quarterly, & annual management reports with high-quality of information on a timely manner to key decision makers.Facilitates smooth monthly management report (MMR) production, promotes strong partnership with Anaplan and PowerBI COE teams and be able to independently investigate and address any queries from stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.Provide support to Regional Financial Planning & Analysis activities including monthly forecast consolidation and analysis, annual plan exercise and monthly management report preparation for Asia senior management.Work with manager to identify the reporting trend and patterns, highlight areas that needs management attention to align with and achieve the Regional Office and Asia Division strategic goals.Participate in projects as assigned or other ad hoc activities.

Operational Support

Applying expertise to the teams’ day to day operations promoting efficiency and team effectivenessEffective capacity management support by recommending and assigning tasks between team members and manage the task monitoring system of monthly / quarterly/ annual reporting processes.Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service by proactively promoting client centricity.Act as the project coordinator who will oversee the planning, implementation and tracking of any short-term or streamlining and automation projects.Initiative in resolving critical issues raised during operations and proactively manage and monitor control efficacy to ensure potential risk is minimized.Support ad-hoc analysis to identify root cause of production problems and develop timely solutions.Effectively communicate significant production updates and challenges to management as well as to the business unit in a timely manner.Independently proposes and taking the lead to work on process improvements and/or operational analyses for management consideration.

Process Migration and Operational Excellence & Efficiency

Continued support in looking for opportunities to transition new work and ensuring that knowledge transfers, parallel runs and process documentation meets the MBPS standards.Partnering with leader in identifying opportunities for process efficiencies through process reviews and automation.Efficiently coordinate and partner with developers and project teams to effectively deliver on process automations and initiatives.Able to train new and/or junior team members, partnering with manager to set up proper back up support system and regular trainings to ensure that technical knowledge and expertise is retained and passed on the team.

Leadership/Management

To take the lead in the absence of manager to oversee regular business reviews and produce dashboard and metric reports detailing the team’s performance (productivity, utilization, and attendance), challenges and areas for improvement.Assist the manager that all Service Level Agreements and MBPS and Business Unit compliance standards are met at all times.

Special Projects

Special projects will arise from time to time that will require strong financial knowledge, strong analytical and organizational skills with an innovative mindset. The role will be responsible to partner with manager for ad-hoc projects as required by senior management pertaining to the introduction of new services, products and processes designed.

What we are looking for

5+ years of progressive financial reporting and management experience; Life insurance industry experience is preferred.University degree in accounting, finance, or business management and or recognized accounting designation (CPA or the like) is a plus.Experience working with senior management teams (Strong stakeholder management requiring persuasion / influencing skills); relationship building and negotiation skills.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strong stakeholder management capabilitiesStrong finance skills with a solid understanding of the business environmentAdvanced Excel skills and experience with database applicationsProfessional attitude and client service orientation; collaborative and results-orientedSelf-starter, detail-oriented, willingness to take ownership and accountability.Able to cope in a fast paced and dynamic work environment, with the mindset of continuous improvement and aiming for excellence.Strong oral/written communication skills required to interact with senior officers and representatives from other Divisions and functional departments.
