We are recruiting for an Accountant to work fpr a leading Defence & Space organisation on contract based in their Bristol offices 3 days per week and 2 days remotely.

The individual will be part of a dynamic team, working across different sites. They will work closely with the Accounting team in order to deliver financial information in the most efficient way possible. It is vital that they understand the activities of the business in order to pre-empt potential issues and to identify possible errors in the data.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities pre deal closing are as follows:Setting up lead ledgers in SAP (P11)Assisting with Due Diligence on the opening balance sheetLoading assets into SAP with the correct data attributesDefining and documenting key financial processes and controlsEnsuring internal controls are in place in line with ERM requirementsKey responsibility post-closing is to contribute to the ‘on time, on quality’ delivery of the monthly consolidation package and annual statutory accounts for Newco. This involves the:Application of IFRS, in line with Group Accounting PoliciesOversight of key internal controls and regular reporting of risks and opportunities through the ERM toolContinual review of processes and procedures to identify and implement improvementsAnalysis of data trends using understanding of business operationsApplication of UK GAAP in order to produce the UK statutory accountsContribution to internal and external auditsCo-ordination of inputs and deliverables from shared service centre (AGBS)Provision of information to the Tax team to support tax computations 
Skill Set
Essential
Qualified Accountant with experience of working in an accounting teamUnderstanding of IFRS and UK GAAP reporting requirementsKnowledge and experience in SAP or equivalent financial reporting toolsAbility to work in a dynamic, enthusiastic team and to contribute with a positive, proactive mindsetStrong communication skills – multiple stakeholders at different levels and in different countriesContinuous improvement mindsetExperience of interacting with internal and external audit teams

Candidates need to hold accounting qualification – ACA/ACCA/CIMA
Candidate will report in HO Accounting based in Filton, great opportunity to work on establishing a new company and to define all relevant processed and controls
