Financial Accountant

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic accounting professional to serve as Financial Accountant in the Chicago office.

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of financial statements, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. This role involves contributing to various accounting functions, including revenue reconciliation and general ledger management, reporting into the Accounting Manager of Mintel’s Americas division.

This role will be required to report to our US headquarters office in Chicago, working a hybrid schedule with the preference of two days onsite per week. We require the individual to have eligible working rights in the United States. 

What you will be doing:

Ownership of Revenue close processes for month end including reconciliation of Deferred Revenue Recognition, Margin Calculations, Variance Analysis of Revenue and 3rd Party Commission Calculations Assist Accounts Receivable MYSS (Malaysia Shared Services) Team as requested Monthly Revenue Reporting to the Exec Team Balance Sheet Reconciliations of deferred income Review subscription and deferred invoices and provide a month over month analysis of syndicated revenue Ensure revenue is recorded in proper periods and post accruals as necessary Assist with Revenue Projections and Brought Forward Balances for the Annual Budget Assist with Month End Close items including prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, etc. Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial data. Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements. Contribute to ERP system transition and implementation. Perform ad hoc reports, analysis and special projects as needed

Highly Accredited: You have a BS in Accounting or Finance with at least 2 years of experience in a corporate accounting setting, working towards a CPA. Great Communicators: You have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Tech Savvy: You have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, leveraging functions including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs, and experience with Great Plaines, Netsuite or similar accounting software. Proficient in Google Office Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Drive, etc) Adaptable: You have the ability to adapt to changing business needs and manage multiple priorities. Proactive: You have a drive to seek out process enhancements and new business initiatives. Detail Oriented: You have a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
