A Glimpse of the Job
The Financial Accountant I performs entry-level professional accounting. As a part of the Division of Finance and Business Services, Financial Management Operations is an employee-centric organization that provides accounting services in partnership with our stakeholders. By promoting high standards of efficiency, integrity, innovation and customer satisfaction, we ensure financial compliance and accountability to Texas A&M University and its constituents.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
+ Inventory Certification - Organize and coordinate annual fixed asset inventory certifications. Track progress of certifications and ensure accurate data entry and updates. Manage asset changes, perform error checks, and address discrepancies for compliance with State, System, & University policies to ensure decreased risk. Investigate missing or mis-accounted assets and report findings. Contribute to process improvements for inventory certification and asset management. Supports six TAMUS agencies.
+ Label Print & Distribution - Print asset labels daily, locate/print control record, match, and mail to departments. Weekly label reprinting for asset updates and department requests.
+ Internal & External Customer Support - Respond to department and system member inquiries via phone calls, emails, and the ticketing system in a timely and professional manner. Provide accurate information and assist with resolving issues related to fixed asset processes, policies, or procedures. Document and track inquiries, ensuring follow-up and resolution of outstanding requests. Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure accurate and consistent responses.
+ Inventory Audit - Conduct departmental physical inventory audit to ensure compliance with State, System, & University rules and regulations.
+ Risk Assessment & Spot Audit - Prepare and analyze inventory certification data for risk assessment. Conduct spot inventory audit on elevated risk departments to ensure compliance with State, System, & University rules and regulations.
+ Asset Disposals - Reviews asset disposal requests for accuracy and performs disposal in FAMIS upon approval. Processes forms for located assets, requests for asset to be undisposed and updates asset location and status in FAMIS.
+ Manual Transfers - Manually transfer assets in FFX that are not processed through the Transfer Departmental Property (TDP) process in Canopy.
+ Document Imaging & Record Retention - Scans and loads documents into imaging system for team and performs annual record retention.
+ Backup - Backup other Financial Accountant I position on Property Management tasks as necessary.

Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business-related field.
