Job Description
Purpose:
The Financial Accountant III is primarily responsible for managing payment processes, including overseeing daily wire transfers, payroll-related payments, and credit card transactions. This role also manages reconciliations for bank accounts and various GL clearing accounts. Additionally, the position serves as the main point of contact for continuing education transactions and provides support to the Associate Director of Accounting as needed.
Responsibilities:
Payment Management:
+ Oversee daily wire transfers and address related inquiries.
+ Process payroll-related payments, including IRS, TRS, UCI, and international withholding taxes.
+ Ensure compliance with state regulations by remitting unclaimed property on an annual basis.
+ Manage payment processing within iPayment.
+ Monitor and resolve credit card payment issues (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), ensuring smooth integration between FAMIS and payment gateways, and manage the Credit Card Merchant account.
+ Enter accounting entries in FAMIS as necessary.
Reconciliation:
+ Reconcile FAMIS and Wells Fargo bank accounts on a regular basis.
+ Perform reconciliation of GL clearing accounts to ensure accuracy.
+ Collaborate with relevant departments to resolve outstanding items or discrepancies.
Other Duties:
+ Maintain proper access controls and signatory permissions.
+ Provide backup for positive pay and fraud filter functions.
+ Oversee shared email accounts.
+ Serve as the point of contact for continuing education transactions and related inquiries.
+ Investigate and resolve issues or discrepancies.
+ Perform higher-level accounting analysis.
+ Provide support to the Associate Director of Accounting as needed.
+ Perform temporary tasks as assigned.
What we need:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Four years of related experience.
