Position Title:  Financial Aid Assistant

Position Status:  Non-exempt (12 month full-time position)

Work Hours: Some evenings and some Saturday hours are required

Reports To:  Financial Aid Manager

Location: Online Education Division (Orchard Park, NY)

 

Position Summary:

Provide excellent customer service skills in every student interaction. Provide financial aid advisement to students regarding financial aid eligibility, types of student aid, student budget development, debt management and other consumer information as it relates to student aid and the College. This position is best suited for someone who prefers a fast-paced environment, adapts to change, is highly organized and actively engaged with students and develop new skills.

 

Responsibilities:

Run ISIR reports and suspense reports and tracking reports through Mythics. Clean reports by determining what errors occurred and remove errors. Review verifications of ISIRs Contact FA Rep, academics, and admissions regarding which ISAR is clean or needs corrections Report to the Financial aid Manager any activity or incident which may not be in compliance with all state and federal regulations and or, systems guidelines. Default Management Contact at risk of default students to contact lender and suggest options so they won’t go into default Exit Counseling and notification Letters for drops, grads and between term withdraws Adhere to all Federal and State Financial Aid Guidelines. Maintains confidential information per FERPA Regulation. Maintain important dates list for each start and notify FA advisors of these pertinent dates Work with IT to update Online ISIR reports each start and notify fa advisors when available Completes any other duties as assigned.

Strong commitment to customer service and excellent written and verbal communication. Must be able to assess student’s needs over the phone or via email. Energetic, personable and a positive attitude are a must, and highly organized while working in a fast-paced environment, possess capacity to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to be flexible to changing processes while proactively seeking solutions and problem-solving.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree required, and must not be in default of a federal student loan. Internet Savvy with multiple browsers. Familiar with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work some overtime.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Position requires standing or sitting in a stationary position as well as the occasional need to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects up to 10 pounds. Position also requires the use of computer technology/equipment. Position requires the ability to hear conversations and receive information in person and over the telephone. Position requires the ability to convey detailed and important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

SALARY: 

$38,000 ($18.27 per hour) 

 

This position is eligible for overtime.
