Financial Aid Manager
Financial Aid Manager **POSITION DETAILS** The Financial Aid Manager, under the general supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, will provide technical support for timely awarding, auditing, and reconciling of financial aid awards through multiple software applications. The Financial Aid Manager will also oversee the Direct Loan Program and policies in accordance with Federal regulations. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: • Administer the Federal Direct Loan Program • Resolve problems with UAO and the servicer • Supervise and train Financial Aid staff on loans, professional development with the student information system and usage of the CUNYfirst system for processing the Direct Loans • Initiate strategies to deliver high-quality financial aid services, streamline processes, provide efficiencies and enhance the overall effectiveness of those services • Serve as an office liaison to process awards and resolve programmatic issues • Remain up to date on new or changed Federal aid regulations, systems, or policies, and brief staff members on these changes • Liaison to auditors and other external and internal offices • Monitor daily technical processes related to Financial Aid software (i.e. importing and exporting of files with the U.S. Department of Education, other regulatory agencies, etc) • Serve on the University Financial Aid System Committee. • Serve as liaison between Financial Aid office and other functional offices as well as information technology in developing reports and queries • Support financial aid staff in the review and analysis of financial aid data reports • Identify and resolve system-related problems through review and analysis of process output **QUALIFICATIONS** ­Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required. Preferred Qualifications • Six years’ experience in student financial aid/assistance in an institution of higher education, preferably specializing in compliance, training, or related operations • Experience with supervising staff • Thorough knowledge of federal and state student financial aid/assistance programs, regulations, and compliance functions • Proficiency in MS Office 365, plus experience using PeopleSoft Campus Solutions modules and database management programs; ability to learn and apply other software as needed • Experience using Peoplesoft query manager • Strong organizational and time management skills essential, including the ability to handle multiple tasks, to prioritize important tasks with conflicting deadlines, and to work independently • Superior communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate and train all employee levels within the University • A high level of confidentiality and commitment to student services • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with multiple priorities and deadlines • Flexible evening and weekend work schedule **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Plans, develops and implements financial aid policies and processes in accordance with Federal, State and University standards. - Manages financial aid activities and represents the office at on-campus and off-campus meetings and forums - Manages day-to day administrative and systems operations for optimal efficiency and customer service; manages special processes such as Return of Title IV Aid - Provides comprehensive financial counseling to parents and students - Implements all necessary processes to support financial aid application, awarding and delivery cycles - Oversees the coordination of financial aid activities with those of other College and University offices - Implements and maintains web based services - Performs related duties as assigned.
