The Financial Analyst is an individual contributor primarily responsible for the accurate and timely accounting and reconciliation of assigned suspense accounts. The role involves analysis and interpretation of accounting data, understanding of accounting and reporting rules and assisting in the development of new process and procedures within the Retirement Operations Team. The role is also responsible for various reconciliation most especially that which affects the Lawson General Ledger. This role also provides support to Operations business unit and serves as the primary contact of each business area.
Position Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to Finance Support & Accounting Operations – SSC, Team Leader, the Financial Analyst is primarily accountable for general accounting and reporting through timely and accurate service delivery.
Responsibilities include the following:
Reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts
This role is responsible for providing timely and accurate reconciliation of suspense account assigned. The role will be responsible for providing reconciliation results with commentaries reflecting the review and investigation completed on each account being managed.Management Reporting
Monthly reconciliation reports preparation for different accounts related to Business UnitProvides sufficient reconciliation analysis on GL balances versus running reports and/or different reports from different departments within Manulife.Control Management
Ensuring that right practices are established and being followed, such as separation of duties and monitored aging of outstanding balances)Identify possible adjustments needed as a result of analysis and reconciliation of the accountsSpecial Projects
Special projects will arise from time to time that will require strong financial knowledge, strong analytical and organizational skills with an innovative mindset. The role will be responsible for handling projects that will allow efficiency savings for Retirement Operations team.Required Qualifications:
University Business Degree and/or recognized accounting designation; CPA preferred.2+ years of progressive responsibility within accounting/financeStrong technical accounting skills with a solid understanding of the business environment and Divisional financial reporting structureIntermediate Excel skills and experience with database applicationsAdvanced Knowledge of IFS Applications (Lawson, Essbase, Webfocus)Experience using administration systems (Manuconnect, Mainframe, FASAT, Smart Office etc)Preferred Qualifications:
Strong oral/written communication skills required to interact with senior officers and representatives from other Divisions and functional departmentsStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to be flexible to changing environmentsAbility to work independently and to willing to collaborate with other teams for a project with huge scale benefitsMust be willing to work at night shift (8PM-5AM)When you join our team:
