Summary of Position: 

The Financial Analyst is responsible for various accounting duties including preparing complex cost analyses for new and existing business opportunities, along with the detailed profit and loss analyses.

 

Functions Performed:

Works with internal departments and external resources to expedite obtaining financial information, primarily related to costing for new and existing business opportunities.? Coordinates with procurement buyers to gather commodity and packaging information and makes updates to the forecast. Prepares tolling documents for customers. Updates costing assumptions based on annual changes (labor/ OH, changeover).  Assists Marketing and R&D with formula revisions for cost reductions. Monitors actual results of financial data against plans, forecasts, and budgets. Analyzes profit and loss reports on business proposals and variance analysis. Prepares financial re-forecast at various times throughout the fiscal year. Gathers and updates raw nut cost data for major commodities. Prepares weekly commodity reports for management. 

 

Qualifications: 

Three or more years of experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP 

 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:   

CPA certification preferred. 

 

Skills and Competencies: 

Solid understanding of financial statements required.? Ability to work independently and cross-functionally required. Good organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to research complex accounting issues and document a well-articulated conclusion referencing relevant accounting literature. Good communication skills and ability to interact with all levels and functions within, as well as outside, the organization. Expertise in complex MS Excel spreadsheet analysis (pivot-tables, v-lookup, macros, etc.).  Ability to master the functionality of the general ledger and various related reporting software that is used to analyze account activity.
