Your role on our Team: Reporting to the Manager of Complex Accounting, the Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Complex Accounting Team by preparing financial and management reports, conducting various financial analyses, drafting detailed accounting memos, and assisting with the monthly reporting and analysis processes for multiple companies within the Minto Group. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated, and possess strong attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all financial analysis and reporting deliverables.
In this role, you will:
Reviewing financial transactions to ensure transactions are appropriately classified, presented, and disclosed while proposing, preparing, and reviewing journal entries and supporting documentation. Preparing financial statements and reports and performing variance analyses. Assisting with the quarterly reporting including updating templates, compiling consolidated files, performing variance analyses, and preparing management reports. Conduct accounting research, analysis, and position papers. Assisting with coordination of external audit.
We would like you to have:
Education: A professional accounting designation (CPA).
Experience:
4+ years of progressive professional experience. Experience performing account reconciliations and/or financial analysis. Experience preparing consolidated financial statements and liaising with external auditors where required. Experience reviewing and writing technical accounting memos (considered an asset). Experience in public accounting and/or industry (real estate industry experience is an asset).Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong analytical skills. Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (“ASPE”). Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment. Proven communication skills (verbal and written) combined with excellent interpersonal skills. Strong understanding and knowledge of ERP systems (W-Desk, OneStream, NewStar or Yardi is an asset).
