**Function Description:** Financial Accounting & Reporting, Process Enhancements, Controls & Compliance, Project Management
**Purpose of the Role:** The primary purpose of this role is focused on “Strengthen the operational risk and SOX Awareness” with an aim to identify process redesign opportunities and ensure adequate controls and compliance in the process. The incumbent will work closely with FINACCT processes, i.e. Fixed Assets, Marketing & Promotion, Accounts Receivable and Joint Venture Accounting processes to review existing risks and redesign the process as required. The incumbent will also be engaged on Enterprise projects for FINACCT processes. This is an Individual Contributor Role which will require strong focus on project management, collaboration across teams, understanding of existing processes and enhancing quality & governance across end-to-end process.
**Responsibilities: -**
+ The incumbent will ensure that integrity, control and optimal functionality is maintained to ensure consistent delivery of project and processes and associated cost/quality/ control metrics.
+ Should be able to work interpedently with minimal supervision during situations with ambiguity.
+ The incumbent shall ensure compliance with all prevalent policies and procedures linked to the area and processes assigned to him / her.
+ Independently research and provide solutions and support for resolution of issues and queries.
+ The incumbent must be able to work with, communicate and influence all levels of management and be self-driven with minimal supervision.
+ Deliver high quality and accurate milestone reporting with adherence to critical deadlines.
+ Contribute toward process improvements through ongoing review of processes / opportunities for automation, enhanced reporting.
**Critical Factors to Success:**
+ Strong project management experience / knowledge
+ Strong knowledge of accounting & reconciliation – knowledge of regulatory requirement will be an advantage
+ Good understanding of existing Oracle Sub Ledger, General Ledger and Cloud functionalities especially for Fixed Assets & Marketing & Promotion modules will be an advantage.
+ Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously & prioritize accordingly
+ Excellent follow-up and detail oriented, using Excel, a plus.
+ Good communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills partners/customers, etc.
+ Incumbent need to be flexible and able to perform responsibilities at different times of the day given multiple teams engaged at given geographical coverage.
+ The incumbent must be able to effectively work in a team environment and maintain high level of team engagement .
+ Should have a transformation mindset with curiosity and will to learn new tools and apply to work situation to enhance process quality and effectiveness
+ Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously & prioritize accordingly
+ Should possess good analytical skills.
**Relevant Experience** : - Key AXP Projects, Accounting, Reconciliations, Reporting, Oracle and other AXP Technology Platforms, MS office Academic
**Qualification:** - CA/ MBA / Post-Graduate with few years of work experience or Graduate with 3-5 of years of work experience.
**Functional Skills:**
+ The incumbent will be required to have strong accounting knowledge, reconciliations knowledge, policy awareness &control mindset with ability to read, interpret and apply policy to function and activities
+ The incumbent will require strong communication and influencing skills while closely with Controllership stakeholders, Finance, Business stakeholders and Audit and Control groups.
+ Excellent follow-up and detail oriented, using Excel, a plus.
+ A strong financial accounting / reporting background
+ Proven ability to drive continuous improvements
+ Very good knowledge of US GAAP and relevant Amex policies
+ Awareness of system-based accounting, experience of automating manual processes and process transformation
+ Good knowledge of US GAAP and awareness of Oracle Cloud (Preferred).
+ High proficiency in MS-Office applications, Essbase/analytical software, Oracle
+ Demonstrate ability to operate in a large company matrix environment (if external candidate).
+ Change and project management exposure.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ A fast/keen learner with the ability to learn a detailed process quickly.
+ Ability to share technical knowledge and proactively encourage others to do the same.
+ Problem Solving & Decision Making:
+ Ability to work in the midst of ambiguity and demonstrate resilience
+ Results driven and ability to perform multiple tasks, work to strict deadlines and priorities tasks.
+ Sets own goals and work with minimal supervision in line with critical regulatory and statutory reporting activities.
+ Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve queries and track issues to conclusion.
+ The incumbent must be able to effectively work in a team environment
+ Must demonstrate personal accountability in ensuring all tasks and activities are carried out on time and in accordance with requirements. Technical Skills:
+ The incumbent will be required to have relevant US GAAP knowledge and its functional linkage and application. Knowledge of Platforms: - Oracle & MS office
