Financial Analyst

The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (KSAS), Office of the Dean is seeking a **_Financial Analyst_** responsible for the maintenance of the integrity of non-sponsored financial information (budget and actual) for KSAS. The position also provides support to faculty and administrative staff regarding fiscal performance, compliance issues, and interpretation of financial policies, procedures and practices.
**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**
_Financial Operations & Reporting (70%)_
+ Assist in preparing non-sponsored budgets.
+ Develop annual School-wide budget control worksheet (ASBC) to account for faculty salaries, faculty research funds, and reserve totals.
+ Keep ASBC up to date to enable projection of budgetary need and surplus/deficit.
+ Prepare analytical and ad hoc reports as requested by the Deans.
+ Prepare annual summary of general funds over and under expenditures for each department; calculate carry forward balances and do necessary SAP transactions to adjust annual budget accordingly.
+ Maintain faculty start up, cost share and research budgets, reporting on current balances as requested.
+ Monitor financial reserves for KSAS; report status to Finance Deans at least monthly.
+ Perform revenue and expense transactions to maintain the integrity for all non-sponsored accounts.
+ Guide and assist in preparation of daily cash deposits
+ Validate deposits and audit cash journals.
+ Verify School’s cash and credit card receivables and communicate with bank, University Cash Receivables Office, and KSAS departments to resolve differences.
+ Develop financial reports for forecasting and results analysis that will assist in quarterly departmental reviews and monthly review of operations.
+ Evaluate requests for creation and termination of all non-sponsored budgets and communicate with Shared Services to set up or close accounts and to resolve issues.
+ Determine appropriate funding source and owning cost center for all new accounts and ensure supporting documentation is adequate and maintained.
+ Establish budgets in SAP and Oracle EPM.
+ Monitor and analyze KSAS Graduate Student Aid by reconciliation of budgets, revenues and expenditures, ISIS and Registrar’s reports.
+ Develop a monthly report and biannual projection.
+ Maintain current list of recipients and monitor open Named Faculty Chairs.
_Unit Department Support (30%)_
+ Monitor divisional office budgets and other departmental general funds budgets.
+ Verify and approve online payment requests, travel and business expense reimbursement requests, expense, revenue, and non-recurring transfers and shopping carts.
+ Monitor, identify, reconcile, communicate, and resolve prior year balances and over expenditures to administrative staff and faculty.
+ Analyze, and process all requests for faculty banking and develop monthly reports.
+ Provide expertise, training, and ensure compliance regarding procedures relating to SAP processing and financial processes and procedures.
+ Serve as intermediary with the Controller’s Office and Shared Services to resolve problems with accounting and budgetary transactions in SAP.
+ Assist with maintaining KASPER and the office Procedures Manual.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities**
+ Must be proficient in Excel and in creating customized spreadsheets for financial reporting and budget detail.
+ Must have experience putting together Power Point presentations for school and university leadership.
+ Comfortable utilizing technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness (Excel, SharePoint, Tableau, OnBase, Adobe, database software).
+ Excellent attention to detail.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, all staff levels, and students and provide excellent customer service.
+ Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions with direction (as necessary) from others. Must be able to interpret technical and detailed guidelines, policies, and procedures, as well as explain or describe moderately complex information and presentation materials.
+ Ability to work independently and take initiative.
+ Demonstrated ability to use sound judgments in making decisions.
+ Must be highly efficient, able to set priorities and manage changing priorities in order to meet deadlines.
+ Knowledge of University and KSAS financial policies, practices and procedures.
+ Prefer knowledge of SAP/ECC, Analysis Reporting, CONCUR, Shopping Cart.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
+ Three years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.
+ Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $53,800 - $94,400 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
