Responsibilities
This position will be heavily involved with the annual planning process and continual monitoring of actual numbers to plan. They will be responsible for providing relevant and consistent financial management information to business partners and leadership teams to help achieve the objectives of Vela Insurance Services. The Financial Analyst collects, summarizes, and analyzes facts that serve as critical qualitative and quantitative inputs to the management team for strategic decision making. This individual will also ensure that information and advice is delivered timely and accurately, company policies and procedures are followed and that communication between finance and the business is strong. Responsibilities:
Synthesize and summarize relevant sales, operational metrics and financial information into weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal clients.Provide regular reporting, analysis, and distribution of key metrics to the business.Identifies & understands trends and changes in business, communicates proactively to management.Meets with Client Executives and Client Managers to perform comprehensive account reviews and forecasts.Communicate key data regarding renewals and real-time sales funnel activity for senior management; applying historical trends as guidance for future activity in support forecast.Track revenue by various business segments, product and type with weekly & monthly updates.Review department expenses including headcount, T&E, bad-debt and allocated overhead.Reconcile actual vs. planned results, explain variances, and reforecast where necessary.Prepare, interpret, and distribute monthly performance results to senior management.Participates in the annual planning and monthly forecasting processes.Ensure revenue forecasting best practices are in place and maintained by the Client Executive teams.Prepares and maintains monthly forecast schedules and client specific revenue forecasting system. Contributes to the overall growth of the business by developing relationships, knowledge of the industry, company initiatives and performance trends.Build a credible, proactive, responsive and service focused relationship with business leaders.Work with cross-functional teams (underwriting, compliance, controllership, operations, IT, human resources, etc.) to ensure that maximum leverage and efficiency are delivered to the business; streamlining reporting systems and processes where possible.Provide input into our transformational financial processes and methodologies to ensure that the sophistication of our analytical capabilities continues to evolve.Regular and predictable attendanceOther duties as assigned
Qualifications Four (4) year College Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business2-5 years of experience with financial analysis.Intermediate experience in Data Quality, Analytics and Reporting.Knowledge of insurance accounting principles, especially for property and casualty companiesExperience with finance systems and proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access & database tools.)Excellent communication and presentation skillsAdditional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting firms.
The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role includes:
Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000.
The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary bonus program.
