The Financial Analyst will be responsible for the full cycle accounting for a number of corporate legal entities, including the completion of monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries and related support, completion of account balance reconciliations, assistance with preparing quarterly forecasts and the annual budgets, preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and preparing wire and EFT payments to meet the various needs of their assigned legal entities. This role requires strong attention to detail as well as the ability to multitask in a complex environment.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Maintain a portfolio of legal entities from an accounting and operations finance perspective
Prepare all monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries with supporting documentation
Prepare monthly reconciliations of cash, equity, investment property, debt, and intercompany account balances and periodic reconciliation of other general ledger account balances
Analyze final posted balances against prior month actuals and budgeted information
Prepare quarterly management accounts and joint venture reporting
Prepare annual financial statements under IFRS and assist with audits
Prepare tax financial statements and supporting working papers
Prepare quarterly sales tax returns
Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and the annual budget
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
Manage cash through the cash cycle. Make recommendations for distributions or contributions as appropriate by monitoring bank balances and updating cash flow forecasts
Prepare steps memos, solvency tests and other documentation necessary to support distributions and contributions
Prepare and obtain appropriate approvals for wires and EFT’s for corporate payments
Assist in the preparation of quarterly debt compliance and interest payment working papers
Maintain non-financial leasing information and analyze variances to budget
Work on ad hoc projects, as required
Liaise with other departments, including Treasury, Tax, Legal, Corporate Finance and Asset Management
To succeed in this role, you have:
University degree in accounting or business
Completion of or working towards a CPA designation
Minimum 2 years’ experience in corporate accounting and reporting, real estate experience preferred but not required
Experience in a large corporate environment with a complex organizational structure
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required, and exposure to JD Edwards and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) preferred
Able to embrace steep learning curve with an open attitude towards continuous learning
High attention to detail and accuracy
Self-motivated and adaptable to a changing and fast paced corporate environment managing multiple competing deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) as job will require frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders
