Job Overview:

The Financial Analyst supports the AVP by providing key operational functions to identify opportunities and minimize risk. The Financial Analyst position plays a key role within the health system by ensuring all steps are taken to clear accounts from EPIC edits. A core function of this position is to ensure that claim edits are minimized, and we can generate a clean claim.

Qualifications:

Required:

College degree requiredMinimum of 3 years in Patient Access or Revenue Cycle roleKnowledge of Billing editsKnowledge of EPIC WQ sAdvanced Excel experience requiredMedical terminology and computer skills

Preferred:

Masters degree

Essential Functions:

The Financial Analyst provides direct and indirect support to department by analyzing data to identify issues and opportunities, claim edits, denials and improve processesThe Financial Analyst has in-depth knowledge of billing/charge capture edits, protocols for confirming the clinical services rendered and minimizing financial riskThe Financial Analyst has extensive knowledge of revenue cycle billing edits and is able to clearly understand and articulate with clinical and non-clinical staffProvides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customersEnsures work queues are worked timely and accurately based on coding/billing guidelinesWorks closely and leads discussions with Clinic/Ancillary department to clear pending claimsCoordinates with the CBO, Revenue Integrity, HIM, IT, etc to resolve complex issues that are holding claimsFollows up with departments on missing documentation that supports the services providedDemonstrates proficiency in the entire pre-admission, registration, and revenue cycle clearance processesDemonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessaryUtilize system generated reports to analyze data and identify trendsResearches and maintains statistics on all errors or inconsistencies that existAssist with denial trends and assist with determine root cause, identify issues and areas of opportunityMeets and exceeds department goals including accuracy and productivityCreate tracking and trending reports and identifies the financial risk for each areaProvide summary findings and recommendations to leadership teamsAssist with creating action plans to address and resolve issuesAudit and review workflow, patient processing and quality standardsResearches and maintains statistics on all errors or inconsistencies that existParticipate in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in-services or staff meetingsReflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitudeWorks closely and professionally with clinical staff and ancillary departments to foster a team environment
