Financial Analyst

Our Opportunity: 

We at Chewy are seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and ambitious Financial Analyst to join our Payroll Center of Excellence! Combining an understanding of finance, practical knowledge of financial statements, and using data to make and drive decisions, this candidate will build dynamic and scalable payroll models, informative, and automated dashboards, and report on business unit-level progress against payroll targets as well as on forecast accuracy. Additionally, the candidate will work alongside finance partners to influence key headcount and payroll assumptions, based on historical data and trends, proposing corrective action when vital.

What You'll Do: 

Assist with the preparation and consolidation of the payroll budget, forecast, and long-term outlook, including identifying and quantifying the risks and opportunities faced by the business.Actively participate in payroll target setting at the business unit level during the annual/quarterly planning processes.Perform modeling and analytics required to synthesize large sets of data and produce concise outputs to deliver business insights, reporting and analyses, and recommendations and/or conclusions to leadership.Aid in the reporting and financial performance management frameworks for the business and help define metrics and performance indicators to evaluate overall business performance and forecast accuracy.Work cross-functionally with finance partners to deeply understand each business unit and provide mentorship on accurate/realistic headcount and payroll projections based on historical data and trends.Pursue continuous improvement in all areas of payroll controllership with an emphasis on standardization and automation.Conduct sophisticated ad-hoc analyses, scenario modeling, and sensitivity analyses, to drive decision-making for payroll trade-offs.Extract and analyze data from central databases using Hyperion and Tableau.Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, running multiple priorities simultaneously.

What You'll Need: 

BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management, or Economics.0-2 years of progressive finance experience and the ability to demonstrate a working understanding of financial statements and common financial processes.Experience in budgeting, forecasting, key performance indicators, and variance analysis.Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, and outstanding attention to detail!Strong data visualization skills (Excel, Tableau, etc.).Self-motivated with a strong internal aim to learn and the ability to deliver on deadlines.Ability to think creatively and work independently as part of a team to address problems given limited resources and time.Ambitious attitude – ability to operate and get results as a self-starter.Able to adapt to ambiguity and lead changing priorities.Ability to drill down to the details, and step back to understand the big picture.Strong Communication skills – ability to distill and convey complex information messages clearly and succinctly.Experience with SQL coding, Hyperion Smartview, Tableau, and Oracle ERP is a plus.
