Accounting Department is a part of the Hartford Healthcarersquos Finance department We are responsible for coordinating all the audits under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP including HHCrsquos year end financial audit both state and federal grant audits and all of the retirement plan audits We are also responsible for monitoring new GAAP guidance and implementing policies and procedures to ensure HHCrsquos compliance with new guidance In addition we perform research to determine the accounting treatment for complicated transactions such as affiliations joint ventures etcPosition SummaryThe Financial Analyst will assist the Director and Manager of Technical Accounting with complex technical accounting issues including researching appropriate accounting treatment for complex accounting transactions and implementation of new accounting standards Position will also be responsible for the day to day management of the financial statement audit including working extensively with other departments throughout the System to ensure appropriate audit evidence is accurately submitted to ensure timely completion of the auditWork where every moment mattersEvery day or finance is required CPA preferredTechnical Skills and Prior Experience years of demonstrated financial reporting accounting and accounting research experience with a public accounting firm preferredResponsible for all aspects of financial statement audit state and federal grant audits and the retirement plan audits for the System including managing the open items listing and review of control documentation submitted from the respective departments prior to submission to auditorsResearch of technical accounting issues related to the System and discussions with its outside auditors regarding the Systems evaluation of technically complex transactionsAssist with the implementation of all new accounting standards for the SystemAssist with financial disclosures of complex accounting areas such as investments malpractice insurance etcKnowledge of and experience with internal control procedure requirementsExtensive responsible experience in accounting and demonstrated analytical skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently on diverse accounting tasks and projects and adapts to changing prioritiesPersists and finishes projects despite obstacles or redirects when necessary takes action and addresses opportunities with little supervision takes extra steps to prevent mistakes or create opportunitiesAbility to pay close attention to detailStrong oral and written communication skills including organized thought processes polite and respectful of others and adapts presentations to the audienceStrong interpersonal skills including the ability to relate effectively to all levels of the SystemConducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of HHC working effectively in a diverse working environmentProficient using Microsoft Excel PowerPoint
