UVAFinance is seeking a Financial Analyst/Senior Financial Analyst to join the Office of the AVP of Finance & Controller for a two-year term, with the possibility of extension based on business needs and funding. This role provides critical support in ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with accounting principles and university policies, as well as work on cross functional projects to implement industry best practices in operations, accounting, and internal controls.
The Financial Analyst/Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting financial initiatives across UVA Finance by performing analysis, managing documentation, and supporting cross-functional collaboration and projects that drive process improvements and financial reporting enhancements.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Conduct data analysis to support finance-related initiatives, delivering accountable insights for operational efficienciesEvaluating current processes to identify opportunities for process optimization and implementing best practicesProvide analytical, administrative, and project management support to ensure timely completion, and documentation of finance related initiatives.Coordinating with cross-functional teams within UVAFinance and the university to support project logistics, track progress, and follow up on action items.Maintaining and organizing key documents, records, and databases related to finance projectsFacilitating effective communication by drafting clear and concise updates, summaries, and follow-up messages for finance-related initiatives and project outcomes.Qualifications for the Senior Financial Analyst and or Financial Analyst
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degreeFive years of relevant experience required for the Senior Financial Analyst role / at least one year of related experience for the Financial Analyst role.Experience with navigating competing priorities in a high-visibility office is preferred.Strong verbal and written communication and presentation and reporting skills are required.Experience in the higher education sector or non-profit organizations preferredExperience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of continuous improvement processes are preferred.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and propose continuous improvement ideas for relevant processesPreferred Competencies:

Anticipated Hiring Range for the Financial Analyst: $60K - $70k per year commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.

This role reports to the Finance Manager within the Office of the University Controller. Hybrid or fully in-person options are available, with the requirement of at least 3 days in-the-office per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience: At least one year of experience.
Licensure: CMA, CFA, CTP, or CPA is typically acquired while in the position.
