About the role:

We are recruiting for our finance team, and we are looking for a Financial Controller on a 12-month fixed term contract. In this role you will be heading up the accounting team based in the Derby office, you will work closely with, and support the Finance Director with the day-to-day running of the Finance operation.

As a Financial Controller, you will:

Supporting the Finance Director to deliver accurate and timely financial information to the business. Providing leadership and development of the Financial Accounting team, while instilling those same values across the wider Finance Team Leading the month end close process, in accordance with agreed timetables. Working closely with the Commercial Finance Manager and Financial Operations Manager and their teams, to ensure a consistent approach and collaborative effort towards targets and deadlines. Running the year-end audit process, consulting with auditors as required while ensuring all deliverables are produced accurately and in a timely manner. Meeting the relevant reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner, both at a Group level and as required by the Finance Director and wider business. Taking ownership of the company balance sheet, ensuring regular reconciliation of key accounts, and taking corrective action where necessary Overseeing the production of financial budgets and forecasts for the business as a whole, in accordance with relevant timetables Overseeing the weekly cashflow forecasts as directed by Group Treasury and the Finance Director Overseeing the delivery of statutory requirements, including but not limited to: VAT, P11D and Corporation Tax returns. Identifying opportunities for improvements in the quality of information provided, and the corresponding processes.

 

You’re good at:

Identifying business issues highlighted by the financials and ensuring the relevant operational manager has support to address those matters. Excellent Excel skills and have previous experience of SAP accounting system. Production of ad-hoc reports as required by management and the wider business. Experience dealing with multi-currency. Experience of a service-based industry, ideally as part of a larger group Experience of dealing with big-4 auditors

 

You may also have:

Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent qualifications Previous experience in a Financial Controller role and a track record of people management and development

You should know:

This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days a week in the Derby office. Our standard working hours are 09:00 – 17:30 with an hour break. You must have the right to work in the UK.
