L3Harris MAPPS (Bristol, Burgess Hill and Barrow-in-Furness) provides an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for the Royal Navy sub-surface and surface fleets, notably current Astute submarine and Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers, in-build Type 26 and Type 31 frigates. This software provides integrated monitoring and control of ship propulsion, electrical functions, auxiliaries and damage control machinery and systems.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

Lead a team providing general accounting, transactional accounting, and financial reporting servicesEnsure controls are designed and operating effectively to address risk and maintain compliance with accounting policiesResponsible for local statutory reporting and financial statement delivery, working effectively with auditors to proactively plan audits and satisfactorily address potential audit concerns. Support intercompany billing processes, including loaned labor processing, indirect expense transfers, and reconciliation of intercompany activityManage monthly close activities including journal entry and account reconciliation review, quarterly and annual schedules, and financial analyticsEnsure revenue recognition is appropriately recognized, documenting revenue recognition analysis as well as confirming appropriate controls in place to ensure accuracy of reported program revenueCoordinate work during monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles to ensure deadlines are achievedLiaise with business unit leadership and support personnel Create and/or updates process documentation including Sarbanes Oxley narrative documentsMust be comfortable working within a matrix environment concurrently supporting several business leaders, including Finance leaders at MAPPS UK, and Maritime sector accounting leadership. Prepare ad-hoc reporting and assist with special projects to include financial system support, as requested.

What you’ll bring

The role of Financial Controller requires the following experience and skills:

Qualified with a recognised accounting body (ACMA, ACCA etc), with significant post qualified experienceTeam management experience with comprehensive knowledge of UK reporting requirementsExperience in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close in a fast-paced close process with multiple, often competing, deadlines Experience in a complex ERP environment Experience with facilitating internal and external auditsAbility to develop broad, cooperative relationships with numerous groups and individuals
