As a Financial Controller, you will report directly to the Finance Director of the BU North America and you will have a key role in maintaining the financial processes and designing a full, proper and well-functioning control environment. This position will also act as a key user for implementation and evolution of finance applications.
GETTING TO KNOW THE POSITION
The Financial Controller will focus on ensuring and coordinating in a timely manner all corporate financial deliverables according to Group guidelines. Performing cost accounting, inventory valuation and control of financial & operational flows. The role will also be in charge of following-up transversal financial topics including: evolution of indirect costs for the entity, defines and coordinates evolutions on systems and processes and adapting them to local constraints & environment.
HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
Finance Organization Management
Maintains financial processes, master data and systems in line with Nexans processes, procedures & internal control principles Acts as a key user for implementation and evolution of finance applications (e.g. ERP Finance modules)Forecast and planning
Coordinates the budget and forecasting process on time and checks consistency Prepares the annual budget and forecast for support functions and transversal costs (profit sharing, taxes…) Manages cost control of central / support function costs Coordinates and validates the split of indirect costs Challenges other departments for improved cost controlling / efficient internal process proactivelyRecord to Report
Prepares, consolidates and communicates the global reporting (figures, statistics, KPIs…) for the entity and business unit P&Ls in a compliant and timely manner Manages transversal administrative and controlling matters at entity level: enquiries, report on entity results, follow-up of restructuring… Provides information regarding finance or organization to external stakeholders Synthesizes and prepares management reports on entity performance Continuously looks for and identifies cost reduction opportunities of own entity Follows up direct and indirect costs (salaries and expenses, hours) of own entity Coordinates the update of the product standard costs. Verifies and validates valuation principles Monitors the sales figures, margin analysis on customer, segment, and product Coordinates the review of external auditors both for statutory accounts and consolidation financial reporting. Supports internal/external auditors and legal authorities in the execution of required activities – ensures staff and information are available as required Make all necessary suggestions for the improvement of the reporting systemBusiness Performance and Partnering
Follows-up support function costs and continuously looks for and identifies cost reduction opportunities at entity level through analysis, benchmark and comparison Contributes to transversal matters and specific projects (restructuring, changes, mergers…) Synthesizes the investment plan, prepares data for capital expenditures requests for approval, monitors capital expenditures budget in cooperation with Plant Controllers/ Managers Ensures company operations are compliant with Corporate rules and local regulations and analyzes risks Shares possible risks & benefits with BU Finance Directors and makes relevant recommandationsInternal control
Contributes to internal control on own perimeterFinancing and Cash Management
Analyzes the evolution of the cash flow statement and follows up working capital analysisMetal Hedging
Works closely with the metal hedger to help support & facilitate the daily processes for metal hedging
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE ?
University Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting Professional accounting designation is an asset Excellent knowledge of Canadian GAAP required. International IFRS would be an asset Minimum 3 years controlling/reporting within a manufacturing costing environment (preferably) Advanced excel skills Strong personal communication and general business understanding Experience in a corporate consolidation role involving the reporting of multiple business lines, legal entities and currencies is desirable Familiarity with SAP and Hyperion Financial Management would be a definite asset Bilingual English / French is an asset
