Responsible for maintaining all accounting records in accordance with Harrah’s retention policies and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all submissions to the regulators, internal auditors, and external auditors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversee General Ledger, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Inventory Control areas for compliance with overall company policy and procedures. Coordinate the month-end closing process and income statement and balance sheet account review. Ensures all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled effectively and timely on a monthly basis. Assist with financial-related special projects as needed. Review taxes, reconciliation’s, and other payroll related work. Assist with payroll-related special projects as needed. Ensure compliance with existing and established company internal control standards, policies and procedures pertaining to financial and control areas. Responsible for the documentation reporting and updating of all department procedures. Review all reports and statements prepared by financial reporting and accounting departments for neatness, completeness, accuracy, and form and ensure that all deadlines are met. Counsel, guide and instruct assigned personnel in the proper performance of their duties. Prepare and coordinate the periodic performance reviews of assigned personnel. Insure the monthly accrual journal entries and related miscellaneous accounting adjustments are prepared and posted at month end and reconcile and adjust the month end closing balances to ensure complete and accurate accounting for the period. Meet all internal and external reporting deadlines and coordinates timely document requests from internal audit, external audit and the state police. Assure that corrective action plans are developed and implemented where needed. Establish, design, create, refine and administer accounting training programs. Communicate all pertinent information to direct reports and assure that there is a sufficient method for information to make it all the way down the chain of command. Responsible for supervision of count room and drop activities including upkeep of all count equipment. Create a professional, fun and exciting environment where top potential performers can learn, add value and be promoted. Builds positive working relationships with the operators, internal auditors, external auditors and the state police. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:
Accounting degree required; CPA or MBA preferred. 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in casino accounting and financial reporting functions. Experience in internal audit preferred. Strong background in financial statement preparation and analysis. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Strong communication, managerial and organizational skills. Must possess a broad knowledge of the Infinium accounting application. Knowledge of SDS, CMS, LMS, EMS and Micros preferred. Must possess an in depth knowledge of internal and accounting control procedures of casino operations. Must be able to effectively mentor, coach, train, develop and motivate the various financial reporting and accounting teams in order to establish the team as a well-respected resource to the operations team and empower the auditors to add value at every level.PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations.
