In Finance department, you will be part of Product Control service who assures management, shareholders, and regulators that the global markets portfolio is correctly and consistently valued and accounted; advises on and quickly accommodates new business; all at a competitive cost. This enables shareholders to gain value from the integrity of our financial information and supports Global Markets’ cost efficiency targets. Product Control is a key control function, part of finance and independent of Front Office, responsible for ensuring the complete and accurate recording of Global Markets activities within the books and records of HSBC, in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
The Product Control team is responsible for ensuring that the daily PL is produced and analyzed accurately on a timely basis and within daily reporting deadlines. Commentary should be provided for all material attributes of the daily PL, including inconsistencies between PL and risk. Quality analysis should be produced to support any requirement to adjust trader PL and to enable effective review by Line Management.
This role has an international dimension, you will be permanently in contact with other HSBC teams in London, Krakow, or India. Also, Product Control is a key point for all market activities, that mean you will be always in relation with other Finance services but also with other business of the bank like Front Office or Back Office.
What you will do:
Primary oversight and escalation for team specifically around the day-to-day PL production and review of Primary Trading System Sourced PL, PL commentary and PL attribution within a team based across Paris, Krakow, and India.In addition, as owner of Accounting Risk, PC are responsible for Financial Reporting controls including Balance Sheet Substantiation and FX Sell off, providing guidance advice across teams and keeping the FO and Group Finance abreast of any concerns around disclosure and completeness.Ensure that all output is produced in a timely and accurate manner, is fully reviewed before publication, and is completed to the level of industry best practice.Proactively drive forward a continuous improvement program for all activities including increasing efficiency and controls through procedures/systems change process.Work with Valuations and CFOs to deliver a single transparent view of the PL and Balance Sheet.Presentation of the business view of the PL and Balance Sheet to traders and trading management.Oversee the production of information on the trading desk’s funding position, ensure that all team members have appropriate training and mentoring.Build relationships with key stakeholders including other Product Control Functions, IT, Operations, Front Office, Group Finance, Market Risk Management and Credit Risk Management.In this role you will:
