Financial Controlling Intern

About the role

This is a 6-month paid internship - ideally full-time 8 hrs per day/40 hours per week - at the office. There is flexibility. 

As a Financial Controlling Intern at SumUp, you will support the Controlling function in overseeing the company's financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting

Coordinate and prepare internal financial reports and management accounts. Review month-end results together with variance analysis for certain areas of the business. Assist for timely and accurate submissions of monthly reporting and the month end closing process.

General Ledger Management

Assist in the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions. Review or prepare key reconciliation in the accounting function as part of the month end closing process - reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Review significant contracts and assess correctness of accounting records.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with the controlling and other finance team members to help facilitate cohesive and comprehensive financial management. Support ad hoc projects like due diligence, tax or internal restructuring projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting or in process of acquiring Fluent English, both written and spoken Very good Excel knowledge 

Personal skills

Good analytical and organizational skills. Curious mind and problem-solving attitude. Critical thinking and attention to detail. Result oriented focus on outcome over activity. Ability to work collaboratively and independently, keeping manager appraised of progress. Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Self-disciplined, self-driven and proactive.
