Overview Under the direction of the manager, the financial counselor accurately process the flow of patient accounts, patient complaint, bill and account issues, giving estimates, upfront collections, assisting patients with charity, and other duties as needed. The financial counselors are to abide by the policies and procedures established by the department and hospital at all times. Qualifications Education High School Diploma/GED Special Skills/Qualifications Understanding of HIPAA regulations, Government claims processing and reconciliation and related fraud/abuse compliance issues. Knowledge of Third-party billing, follow up and reconciliation processes: UB04, 1500, EOB, remittance lists. Previous working experience with online account management and processing through scanning. Previous experience in Customer Service. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to multitask through skills and quality performance. The ability to handle difficult customers and explain complex scenarios and processes. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
