Financial Lines, Pricing Actuary

Chubb Overseas General (COG) is the International (non-US) general insurance operating division of Chubb, in excess of $10 billion of premium. This division comprises business across EMEA, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Far East and Lloyd’s.

This role is based in London as part of the central COG P&C Actuarial Pricing Team. This team currently consists of actuaries and data analysts dedicated to specific lines of business – Casualty, Property, Financial Lines, Marine, Energy as well as Industry Practices and Outwards Reinsurance.

You will be part of the COG Financial Lines Actuarial team covering multiple products including Cyber, Technology E&O and Commercial PI across all COG regions. This role reports to the Senior Pricing Actuary for Financial Lines who reports to the COG Chief Actuary.

You will have the opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge of the lines of business you work with and develop your actuarial skills by working closely with the Senior Actuaries as well as the wider Underwriting and Pricing teams. There will also be significant exposure to Senior Management which requires confidence, expertise and excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing the Cyber and Commercial PI products within the Financial Lines portfolio. Rating Models: Maintain, re-calibrate and improve existing rating models. Utilize newly available technology to improve pricing outcomes. Develop additional functionality for exposure, experience and stochastic models. Portfolio Reviews:  Perform or review annual profit studies to identify areas of opportunity, and help define the line of business strategy for the upcoming year. Define best practices to implement across all regions when analysing segments of our portfolio. Implement process improvements within existing structures on data preparation, data visualization and presentation. Portfolio Management: Support annual planning process via coordination with regional actuarial teams. Assist on ad hoc portfolio management exercises to utilize exposure data into actions. Case pricing: Review the case pricing work performed by the regional actuarial teams. Define and monitor best practises on case pricing across all COG regions. Reinsurance:  Support annual renewal process of all externally placed reinsurance treaties. Rate Monitoring:  Work with regional underwriters and actuaries to best capture price adequacy and rate change on Financial Lines products. Reporting:  Support ad hoc requests from senior members of the underwriting and actuarial organization, as well as senior management. Nearly/newly qualified actuaryExperience in General Insurance and in particular Financial LinesStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with a wide spectrum of business partnersAbility to communicate technical positions clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences, and to present confidentlyExcellent Excel skills, both handling formulas and presentationStrong technical actuarial knowledge and an agile learning abilityAdept data handling skills, and ability to work with large datasetsKnowledge of programming languages a plus, particularly: SQL, R, or Python Experience in Radar and Qlikview would be beneficial
