Financial Lines Underwriter

The Financial Lines Sr. Underwriter is responsible for generate new business and retain existing portfolio for Financial Lines, which includes the following segments: (i) Financial Institutions, (ii) Directors & Officers Liability, (iii) Professional Liability and (iv) Cyber Liability. 

Role Responsibilities 

Subscribing business in accordance with corporate guidelines, analyzing information provided by agents or brokers to establish the best conditions of assurance caring profitability. Negotiating deals with insurance brokers and/or agents and timely responds to quotation requests or inquiries. Engaging with internal and external brokers and customers, as well as business underwriter and top management. Visiting insurance producers at regular intervals to attract clients.  Creating specialized endorsements requested by insurance producers or businesses. Analyzing, monitoring, and handling new business received through brokers and renewal accounts, maintaining list of accounts handled each month. Managing new insurance policy wordings requirements for the review of the Insurance Commissioner in Puerto Rico for approval.  Vast knowledge on local medical malpractice risks.

Experience: 

Experience providing expertise in technical risk assumption evaluation protocols. Experience practically implementing commercial expertise to implement casualty underwriter’s best practices. Experience driving return growth in local commercial insurance markets. Experience sharing industry knowledge through cross-functional partnerships. Actuarial fundamentals. Ability to understand loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking. Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and forecasting methods. Financial proficiency. Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis. Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets.  Actuarial fundamentals. Ability to understand loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking. Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and forecasting methods. Marketing and communications. Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Ability to make presentations and communicate articulately. Ability to base communications on strategic thinking. Ability to manage producer strategy. Systems and programs. Ability to use systems and software programs needed to conduct daily business.

Requirements: 

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field at least.  5 years of occupational experience as a commercial commercial multiline underwriting] or similar occupation. Proficient in MS Applications (Word, Excel (Macro) and Power Point)Vast Knowledge in (TM1, Power BI, Qlikview, ennext, SIWO, Meridian, Guide Point, Pipeline, ISO, Cognos, Monitor Fire, P&C Commercial Dashboard)
