FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Summary This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense using hiring authority in 5 USC 9905. DISA has delegated authority by the Under Secretary of Defense to directly appoint qualified candidates possessing a finance, accounting, management, or actuarial science degree, or a related degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study, or equivalent experience, related to the functions of the position to be filled. Responsibilities Serves as a senior Financial Management Specialist instructing others in specific tasks and job techniques. Checks work in progress and reviews completed work, if necessary. Serves as the DFAS liaison for all financial issues. Works closely with DFAS on financial management process, procedures, and related automated systems. Participates in conferences and meetings at staff, Directorate, and Agency level relating to effective financial management of programs within the defined area of responsibility. Advises on financial management issues. Develops queries into the various systems, providing the information management needs to make decision process regarding effective and efficient use of resources. Provides requirements and participates in automation projects related to the automated financial systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service, is required. Specialized experience at the GS12 level is defined as experience supporting a financial statement audit for a working capital fund, revolving fund, or equivalent; and experience working with and adhering to laws and regulations governing financial managers. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. A one year probationary or trial period may be required. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination.
