Financial Planning & Analysis - Analyst
Job Description

Work Arrangement​​ 
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role

Serve as a Finance partner to Operating Staff with timely and relevant reporting and analysis that drives the most informed business decisions. Provide analysis, insights and recommendations that drive profitability, mitigate risks and offer solutions to business problems.

What You’ll Do

Responsible for operationally executing backend processes for Operations Finance relating to Forecast, Budgets and ReportingOwns a complex country process, possesses understanding of current processes and systems, manages process to target quality and efficiency and provides knowledge of important seams and trade-offs. (multi-function, multi-entity)Focus on reports interpretation and variance analysis for one or more business functionsAnalyze and Interpret data for reporting requirementsUnderstand local and business trends that impact financial operations, including peaks and valleys of country performance and cost indicatorsCountry and Region ReportingEnsures compliance with GM Corporate policies and external regulatory requirementsSupport internal and external auditsInteracts with internal/external related parties (impacted Business Units, Global Controller’s Team, Global Finance Teams, etc.)Has strong control focus – brings any issues (accounting or control related) forward immediatelyHas a strong focus on process improvements to drive quality accounting and complianceFrequent contact with others outside of work group to accomplish tasksParticipation in Special Projects (including LEAN/Six Sigma activities)  - -eventual leader of such projectsHighly technical in the use of SAP system (t-codes, asset module flow, etc.)

Your Skills & Abilities

Basic domain knowledge of Operations Finance related processes (Actuals, Budget, Forecast Analysis)BA in Finance/Supply Chain/Accounting/Business or equivalent in a shared service environmentExperience working in a multinational organization and working with colleagues internationally is preferredWorks effectively with others and as part of a team.Competent/Above-Average English Fluency

Technical Knowledge Requirements:

Ability to understand, interpret and compare relationships between Actuals, Budgets and ForecastsApplies knowledge of financial reporting implications of transactions within a specific business area, including impact of changes in performance (actuals vs budget vs forecast)Basic Income Statement and Balance Sheet Forecasting understanding, under GM structure and requirementsCan articulate a basic understanding of US GAAP accounting principles, and understands the General Ledger account hierarchy and the impact of recurring transactions on the G/L.Understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX /Internal Control Requirements – additionally, continue to attend trainings on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable.Working knowledge of SAP and other GM systems as required for the assigned position (systems and level of knowledge necessary will vary – employee must be willing to continuously learn the GM systems landscape and functionality)
