Financial Reporting Accountant
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Financial Reporting Accountant will assist in preparing financial statements for internal and external users. This role will collect and analyze financial data maintaining compliance with GAAP and Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) guidelines and assist the Supervisor, SEC Reporting in preparing external financial statements and disclosures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Research new accounting standards and other research on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and US Securities Commission compliance issues as needed.

2. Compile information necessary to complete SEC filings, financial statements and related disclosures.

3. Review and analyze consolidated financial statements and related disclosures to ensure information is complete, correct, and in compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, and other applicable requirements. Assist in reviewing the GAAP pages in the monthly financial book.

4. Compile and review SEC filings for required XBRL tagging.

5. Identify and recommend resolutions to issues which impact the accuracy and completeness of accounting data and financial statements within a general area of responsibility.

6. Prepare and review various schedules, reports, and analyses for filing with U.S. Department of Commerce

7. Prepare benefit plan financial statements for filing with SEC and or Labor Department

8. Assist in calculation of compliance with debt covenant ratios

9. Establish and maintain relationships with individuals and other departments as needed to resolve accounting and reporting issues and questions.

10. Assist in providing documentation for audit requirements of external auditors.

11. Communicate and consult with internal and external counterparties.

12. Prepare and enter journal entries and account reconciliations

13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
