Financial Services Tech (FST) - Behavioral Health 101

As part of the Telecare Family, Morton Bakar Center is a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) providing psychosocial rehabilitation and skills-building support for older adults (ages 65+) with a primary diagnosis of severe mental illness.  

Shifts Available: 

Full Time; AM 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday

Expected starting wage range is $21.00 - $22.06.  Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges.  The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed.  Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Services Technician (FST) obtains, documents, and facilitates processing of all financial information pertaining to members served.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

High school graduation or a G.E.D. equivalent Knowledge of regulations related to Medi-Cal, Social Security, Short Doyle, private health insurance, and other pertinent information regarding public medical assistance Ability to analyze and evaluate individual financial situations, reach conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations Broad knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment, plus experience with computers including spreadsheets and word processing Must be at least 18 years of age Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply.

Preferred:

Direct experience as a Medi-Cal Eligibility Worker or Social Security Administrative Clinical Representative

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values, and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures Performs members served eligibility tasks, including: Interviewing all members served and completing necessary forms Verifying Medi-Cal/SSI eligibility, completing applications for appropriate government benefit programs, and maintaining tracking spreadsheet Coordinating financial information concerning members served through regular contact with county eligibility offices, Regional Business Office Specialist, the Business Office Manager, and Social Services staff Preparing SSA forms to determine benefits and establish protective date Interfacing with the Regional BOS and other agencies and departments concerning financial information Completes Medi-Cal TARs, tracks within Avatar and the Medi-Cal website, and coordinates with corporate accounts receivable department Performs clerical duties, including: Initiating and maintaining members served eligibility reports and follow-up records Assisting the Business Office Manager in maintaining files on all current and former members served

SKILLS

The ability to read, write and speak English is crucial, as is the willingness to work with mentally impaired adults

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, squat, kneel, push, pull and lift and carry items weighing 10 pounds or less as well as to frequently twist, manual repetition, deviation, dexterity and to do simple grasping occasionally. The position requires constant sitting and to occasionally drive.
