Position Summary: The ‘Analyst - Financial Systems’, under the direction of the ‘Manager - Financial Systems’, supports the functional management and processes of all applicable systems. These systems include SAP ECC, BW, BCS, Business Objects, and other critical financial systems throughout Johns Hopkins. The primary objectives for this position are to ensure that all finance and finance-related reporting and associate systems are working effectively and efficiently; staff are trained in the use of the systems; the data has integrity; proper security is in place to prevent unauthorized access and processing; testing of systems upgrades are performed; backup and recovery plans are in place for select systems, financial reporting is occurring timely and accurately and business processes are operating efficiently. The Analyst is, at times, a liaison between Finance (Controller and Budget), Business Units/Subject Matter Experts, Enterprise Business Solutions (SAP support organization) and Information Services (JHMCIS). The Analyst will participate on small to mid scale projects in support of the ‘Manager - Financial Systems’ and Director of Financial Systems in addition to the duties stated above.

Competencies:

Education:

Employee should have work experience in related areas with at least two to five years experience in a financial systems environment. A 4 year bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance or Accounting Information Systems is required, but five or more years of experience may be substituted for a degree.

Knowledge:

Must have a good working knowledge of computers/word processing equipment and the client/server environment. A minimum of 2 years experience with large ERP solutions, preferably SAP, financial reporting and the associated tools, 8accounting processes and procedures is mandatory.

Skills:

Must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and explain system issues to all levels of management and staff and work to evaluate and implement key system processes. Must have strong analytical ability and knowledge to solve day to day management issues related to the systems being represented.

Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:

MIS/AIS, MBA with IT track and/or CPA all preferred

Work Experience:

Minimum 2 years work experience and exposure to financial/accounting processes. Exposure to time/payroll systems is helpful. At least 2 years working supporting financial systems at a mid to large sized organization.

Laptop/Desktop Computer System, Desktop Printer

Authority/Decision Making Level:

Engage in daily communication with financial systems users and finance. Make decisions regarding work processes based upon established guidelines. Advise on systems integration changes when necessary. Take the lead on web based initiatives that will benefit the workforce or finance users. Own tasks on small scale projects in support of the ‘Manager - Financial Systems’ and Director of Financial Systems.

Problem Solving:

Effectiveness in problem solving is required in order to

Resolve user department concerns/problems regarding system and reporting related issues Resolve system interface issues centered on SAP and associated financial systems Relate user needs to suggested system solutions.

Knowledge Material Management:

Ability to develop, evaluate and implement material related to financial system training, including formats such as in classroom, online (E-learning) and misc. job aids.

Information Management:

Knowledge of sap, Microsoft Office, etc.

Working Conditions:

Works in normal office/home environment where this is little discomfort due to extremes of heat, dust, noise, temperature, etc. Work requires considerable attention to detail (approximately 60% of time) would produce a high level of mental visual fatigue

Salary Range: Minimum 28.05 per visit - Maximum 46.31 per visit. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
