The Idaho Department of Labor (IDOL) has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Financial Technician to join our team, located in downtown Boise. This position will be in our Unemployment Insurance Cashier's unit. The Financial Technician will process deposits for the department including overpayment recovery and employer tax on behalf of the UI Program. This position will be responsible for ensuring deposits match control totals, keeping specialized financial records and reconciling the payment register. As a member of the Accounting unit, this position will also perform other accounting and administrative functions as assigned. The ideal candidate has strong financial skills, an analytical approach to problem solving and good organization and time management skills.

Example of Duties:
+ Process deposits.
+ Prepare, reconcile and balance financial transactions, ensuring all necessary back-up documentation and approvals are included.
+ Identify and correct errors and discrepancies.
+ Maintain logs, ledgers and journals.
+ Develop worksheets, spreadsheets and other financial documents.
+ Ensure compliance with laws, rules and policies.

Good knowledge of:
+ Financial record keeping. Typically gained by successful completion of at least two college accounting courses; OR successful completion of one college course and six months of work experience; OR at least one year of work experience.
Experience:
+ Researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports. Typically gained by one year of experience researching and compiling financial info and preparing summaries and reports OR two courses or training programs related to business writing AND six months of experience researching and compiling financial info and preparing summaries and reports
+ Using personal computer to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data. Typically gained by one year of experience using a personal computer to enter, retrieve and edit financial data OR two courses or training programs related to working with financial data (such as Microsoft Excel or QuickBooks) AND six months of experience using a personal computer to enter, retrieve and edit financial data.
