Finishing Electrician, BRS
U. S. Steel is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace culture and celebrate the diversity of our employees. This position is an industrial electrician responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment in the Coated Products area of Big River Steel facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical equipment, including PLCs, control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, and VFD drives/motorsInstall or modify electrical equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications with minimal instruction after general assignmentUse Electrical Ingenuity and Work directly with all mechanics and operations personnel in a fast-paced environment to help develop a safety focused and productive Coated Products Team. Support maintenance teammates to help maintain a positive and efficient work environment focused on safety and reliability.Qualifications:Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environmentQuality and detail oriented with strong technical and analytical problem solving skillsAdaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledgeReliable team player with good communication skillsHighly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when neededDemonstrated proficiency using precision measuring instrumentsExperienced with mobile equipment. ( Rough Terrain, Man Lift, Fork Lift Carry Deck or Broaderson)Efficient in the Metric Measuring System a plusBasic computer skills; MS Excel, Word, and Outlook is a plusRead Electrical drawings, blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work proceduresKnowledgeable of programming and troubleshooting logic to include ladder logic, function block programmingKnowledgeable of VFDs, principle design, programming, and trouble shooting skills; I.O. systems and design layout; three-phase motors and ability to troubleshoot; network infrastructure; basic mechanical components in a mill; basic Hydraulic systems, how they operate and design layoutWilling to learn and take on multiple roles, such as mechanical and production positions as well as continually improve on primary skill setHS diploma or equivalent is required; electrical degree or training is preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Environment is typical for a steel mill production areas, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/ greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environment. Typical work hours are four 12 hour shifts, which rotate days and nights. This results in working some weekends/holidays and overtime.
