In the role of Fire Alarm Inspector 3 implies a high level of expertise and proficiency in inspection and testing fire alarm systems. This position involves leading inspections of complex fire alarm systems, their components and interconnected systems, providing mentorship to junior technicians, and assuming a more autonomous role in inspecting, testing and maintaining fire alarm systems.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Lead and oversee comprehensive inspections and advanced testing of fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards. Test and troubleshoot initiating devices, notification appliances, and system components, addressing malfunctions or deficiencies. Conduct inspections and testing of interconnected systems, including elevators, HVAC shutdown, fire doors, tampers, flows, smoke control systems etc. Conduct inspections, testing and preventive maintenance of VESDA systems. Participate in routine inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems. Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of fire alarm systems as needed. Document all service activities, including inspection results and repairs, and complete testing reports with noted deficiencies. Conduct site surveys for fire alarm system inspection, testing and maintenance, develop labor projections, and schedules, and perform pre-testing and final acceptance testing with Fire Marshal. Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting of recommended repairs. Demonstrate a commitment to safety, quality service delivery, and customer satisfaction in all service activities. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, actively contributing to project tasks and fostering a positive learning environment. Minimum of high school degree and three years of related experience or two years technology degree and one-year related experience. NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II or NICET Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems II or pass NICET II exam within 90 days of employment.Additional Requirements
Ability to obtain US Clearance, minimum DoD Secret Clearance. Position is subject to an additional customer background check. This position will require up to 15% travel throughout the United States. Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period. Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders. Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
