Fire Alarm/Suppression Technician

Responsibilities Troubleshoot, Repair, Install, complete preventative maintenance on a wide variety of fire systems to include alarm panels, suppression systems, and clean agent systems. Perform Inspection, Testing, Maintenance, and repair various fire systems. Run tests or fault diagnostics on equipment to locate and address a problem, order parts if needed, and replace or repair parts. Reassembling circuit boards, motor components, or other structures within a system. Run initial tests on new electronic systems or equipment. Follow wiring diagrams, drawings, and schematics to ensure that all systems are installed correctly. Upgrading software and running software tests on existing electronic systems. Maintaining detailed records of validity tests and upgrades performed. Perform routine, regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on electronic equipment to avoid issues and potential down time. Log maintenance tasks that were completed on what dates and when certain tasks should be performed again in the future. Responsible for care, maintenance, and safeguarding of Government equipment, tools, property, and materials. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published working rules. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. This position requires U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance. Education/Certificates: High School Diploma/GED and five+ years' additional education and/or experience. All employees must have proof of US citizenship, a valid state driver’s license and be eligible for base access throughout the project geographic scope. Certifications Must be NICET Level II in ITM of Water Based Systems, NICET Level II in Special Hazards, electrical experience is preferred. Satisfactory completion of a military or recognized trade school or correspondence course. Experience Four (4+) years' in Fire protection systems or subsystems. Technician should be experienced, qualified, and trained in the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) tasks of fire protection systems or subsystems. Skills Must understand, read, write and speak English. Other Requirements Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices.
