Fire Alarm Technician 1
Overview The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 is responsible for performing inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and service of fire alarm systems to uphold safety and compliance standards. The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 will work under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors to develop expertise in fire alarm systems and related technologies. Responsibilities · Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards. · Test and troubleshoot initiating devices, notification appliances, and system components, addressing malfunctions or deficiencies. · Assist in inspections and testing of interconnected systems, including elevators, HVAC shutdown, and fire doors. · Document all service activities, including inspection results and repairs, and complete testing reports with noted deficiencies. · Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting of recommended repairs. · Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices. · Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems, and determine materials needed for repairs. · Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance standards. · This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and responsibilities. Qualifications **Education:** · Minimum of high school degree and four years of related experience or two years technology degree and two years of related experience. **Certifications:** + Possess NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I or pass NICET I exam within 90 days of employment **Requirements** · Ability to obtain Secret Clearance. · Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic. · Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work. · Knowledge of NFPA 72 and OSHA Requirements · Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress. · Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility. · Above average communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors **Abilities:** + Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period. + Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. + Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders. + Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. + Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. + May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. + Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. + Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. + Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). + See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). + Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
