Fire Alarm Technician 1- Washington Metro Area- MD/VA/DC
Overview The **Fire Alarm Service Technician 1** is responsible for performing inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and service of fire alarm systems to uphold safety and compliance standards. The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 will work under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors to develop expertise in fire alarm systems and related technologies. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities** + Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards. + Test and troubleshoot initiating devices, notification appliances, and system components, addressing malfunctions or deficiencies. + Assist in inspections and testing of interconnected systems, including elevators, HVAC shutdown, and fire doors. + Document all service activities, including inspection results and repairs, and complete testing reports with noted deficiencies. + Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting of recommended repairs. + Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices. + Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems, and determine materials needed for repairs. + Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance standards. + This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and responsibilities. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice **Minimum Qualifications** + Minimum of high school degree and three years of related experience or two years technology degree and one year of related experience. + NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I or pass NICET I exam within 90 days of employment. **Additional Requirements** + Ability to obtain US Clearance, minimum DoD Secret Clearance. + Position is subject to an additional customer background check. + This position will require up to 15% travel throughout the United States. + Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic. + Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work. + Knowledge of NFPA 72 and OSHA Requirements + Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress. + Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility. + Above average communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors **Physical Requirements** + Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period. + Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. + Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders. + Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. + Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. + May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. + Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
