Fire Alarm Technician

Responsibilities Fire alarm technicians coordinate proper fire alarm placement and install, test, and repair systems. Performs Preventive and Corrective maintenance in accordance with work order compliance standards. Uses a Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to correctly capture data related to maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance inspections, and emergency/urgent customer requests. Uses a Tablet to track work orders, request material, add labor and material used against a work order. Complies with established guidelines in UFC3-600-02, Operations and Maintenance: Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Fire Protection Systems. Repairs shall meet all OEM requirements and NFPA codes and standards. Maintains, inspects, and tests fire protection systems to operate as designed and in accordance with NFPA. All maintenance, inspection and testing shall be recorded on the appropriate American Fire Sprinkler Association Form listed in NFPA 25 Standards for the inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems. Performs other general building maintenance and duties as needed. Participates in the training of apprentices and/or other workers as needed. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma. One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Must possess Valid Driver's License Must be able to obtain a common Access Card (CAC) Certified per UFC 3-600-02. Knowledge of inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems. Acceptable training and certification include: Factory trained and certified on the specific equipment/system being serviced. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies Level III Certified. International Municipal signal Association Fire alarm certified. Certified or licensed by a state or local authority. Trained and qualified personnel employed by an organization listed by a national testing laboratory for the servicing of fire alarm systems. Fire Suppression maintenance must be done by Nicet Level III or IV personnel. All maintenance trade personnel certifying or inspecting repair or maintenance work that does not require an inspector certified by a governing directive shall be qualified at the journeyman level unless noted otherwise. Qualified journeymen must hold a current and valid journeyman license for the applicable business trade. All certification and licensing shall be in English. Experience Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools. Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures. Skills Effective verbal and listening communication skills Client service and public interaction skills. Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Must successfully complete all training programs Must be able to type 20 words per minute Customer Service Training Must possess the following PC skills: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must be physically and mentally capable to perform all tasks including the lifting of light and heavy items. Other Requirements A normal work week is 48 hours (5 days per week).
