What we want The Fire and Life Safety Code Compliance Inspector I is responsible for assisting with implementing aspects of the university fire and life safety (FLS) program. You may upload these in the CV/Resume section. Required Education and Experience: + Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. + No required experience. Required Licenses and Certifications: + A valid driver’s license within 60 days of hire Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to conduct the duties of the position + Proficient in MS Office Preferred Qualifications: + Certified Fire Inspector; Certified Plan Reviewer + Experience in code compliance and/or fire and life safety systems Essential Duties/Tasks: FLS Construction & Inspection + Learn and develop an understating of building, fire, and life safety codes, standards, and procedures. + Assist other staff with inspections of various fire and life safety system and program areas. + Learn and manage construction and renovation projects. + Become familiar with and assist with larger more complex systems. Compliance and Inspection Support + Conducts fire extinguisher inspection in critical facilities. Assistance, Events & Emergency Response; Special Event Inspection Special Event Inspection + Assists superiors as needed. + Collaborates with other personnel in preparation of and during special events that have a need for Fire and Life Safety input. + Responds with other personnel to emergencies and assists emergency responders. + Collaborates with other personnel in preparation of and during special events that have a need for Fire and Life Safety input. Other Requirements and Factors: + Work may occasionally require flexible work schedule to accommodate schedules related to construction, drills, or special events. + Must be able to operate a university vehicle Why Texas A&M University?
