Fire Chief Sr
Overview **This position is physically located in Iraq in support of LOGCAP** Under the supervision of the Deputy Task Order Manager, will support the OIR Task Order in managing all facets of fire and emergency services. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Selects and guides OIR Fire departments to perform as expected when called upon and will continually assess their readiness and performance Responsible for managing, monitoring, and tracking fire and emergency services and all task order sites Completes the requirements in the PWS and IAW DoD regulations Identify problem areas and respond to mission requirements Control resources; monitor staff proficiency and qualifications; monitor the locations activities of assests; and coordinate the flow of information to and from task order staff and USG representatives Perform additional duties and projects as assigned Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred Must be a U.S. Citizen U.S. Driver’s License USG Secret Security Clearance In-Depth experiences with Microsoft Office Fire Officer IV, Fire Instructor III, Fire Inspector II, HazMat IC, Airport Firefighter, Airport Firefighter Driver Operator, Driver Operator Pumper. Must be CAC eligible and able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) Must be able to pass annual Occupational Health Exam Certification Requirements: Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor III, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Airport Firefighter Driver Operator, Driver Operator Pumper. Experience: Minimum of twenty (20) years in the Fire Service Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a Chief Officer position (Assistant Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief and Fire Chief) Skills: In-depth knowledge of DODI 6055.06, AR 420-1, AFI 32-2001 and NFPA Demonstrate working knowledge of task order activities Demonstrate ability to lead and manage multiple locations and departments Ability to work in fast paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks given and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and scheduled Ability to execute the Fire Chief Sr duties and responsibilities Ability to direct firefighting operations to include fighting aircraft and structural fires, performing rescue operations, and responding to hazardous material incidents Knowledge of chemistry of fire, preventive maintenance and operation of firefighting and rescue equipment, physical and chemical properties of combustible materials and building structures and their components Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change Good Verbal and written communication skills to direct employees, prepare reports for upper management and facilitate/disseminate information Ability to work with Host Country Nation Fire departments Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible to oversee OIR Fire Chief’s daily operations to ensure personnel are well-trained and capable to perform their duties effectively and on short notice. Selects and guides Fire and Emergency personnel to perform as expected when called upon and will continually assess their readiness and performance. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
