Fire Inspector

**Purpose and Scope:**
The Fire Inspector has primary responsibility for inspecting and evaluating buildings and equipment and the potential fire hazards at facilities and work locations on a military base. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
**Essential Responsibilities:**
+ Complete training in hazardous materials handling, investigation procedures, structure audits, installation and maintenance codes for fire alarm and suppression systems.
+ Read/review architectural drawings and blueprints to assess the potential of damage by fire.
+ May conduct fire exit drills at designated facilities.
+ Inspects operational capabilities for fire sprinkler or alarm systems, and test newly installed or repaired firefighting equipment (static and portable).
+ As assigned, function with the fire crew to suppress all fires and take necessary action to prevent rekindling.
+ Exercise caution to avoid damage or loss of property including injury to self and others.
+ Identify, protect and report evidence indicating cause of fire, especially during salvage and overhaul operations.
+ May also perform related duties and functions such as fire hose testing, pre-fire planning, station maintenance, fire extinguisher/fire alarm and fire systems inspections and testing, fire apparatus pump tests, and vehicle equipment maintenance.
**Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:**
+ Must have certification for the following:
+ Fire Inspector II
+ Fire Instructor I
+ Must possess a National Registry Emergency Medical Responder (NREMR)
+ Must possess a National Registry Emergency Medical Responder (NREMR)
+ Must possess a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) BASIC level or above.
+ Shall have and maintain a current CPR card issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
+ Training must be accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualification System (NPQS). IFSAC or NPQS seals on the training certificates provide evidence of IFSAC or NPQS accreditation or foreign nation equivalent.
+ Must be physically fit, present a neat appearance, and maintain safety-related grooming standards.
+ Minimum of one year experience at that duty position.
+ High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
+ Ability to read and write English is required.
+ Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
+ Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
+ Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
+ Requires sponsored by a MP-ICAM Trusted Agent with a favorable background check with current cybersecurity training.
+ Non-U.S. personnel will not be granted a U.S. Common Access Cards (CACs) and must follow procedures for badging and access to Government facilities or installations. Instead, non-US personnel are issued Network Enterprise Alternate Token (NEAT), which is a smart-card for accessing the unclassified AFNet or DoD network.
+ Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
+ Possess a valid driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain any visa required.
+ Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
+ Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
**Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:**
+ The Fire Inspector shall be located at Ascension Island, a remote island.
+ This position will be exposed to products of fire to include heat, smoke, toxic fumes, and gasses.
+ Basic physical requirements include walking, bending, stooping, stretching, climbing, running, and lifting to 100 pounds.
+ Must be able to perform job tasks at any place on the Aerial Ladder from minimal extension to full extension.
+ Must be able to perform assigned duties while wearing a self-contained-breathing-apparatus (SCBA), with minimal loss of effectiveness and efficiency.
+ Must be able to navigate tight turns, stairs, and enclosed spaces while wearing firefighting personal protective equipment to include SCBA.
+ At times, work will be done in a station or an office environment maintaining vehicles, equipment and firefighting apparatus.
+ Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
+ Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
+ Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
